Prayer About How God Loves Us, How We Should Love Him, and How We Should Love Others

Loving God, I come to You in the Name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, to praise You for the love You give to me and enable me to return to You and extend to others. Remind me that Your love is not meant to stop with me. I am to love You and love others in return. John 13:34 “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.“

Remind me that loving others through action is ultimately an expression of my faith in You. James 2:15-17 “If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” Direct me to be alert to others’ needs and care for those You have placed around me both in word and deed.

Thank you that You do not expect me to develop the capacity to love like You without assistance. As I take the time to experience Your love for me, Your Holy Spirit will transform me so that I can do the good works of love that You have laid out for me. 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 “Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace, comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work.“

Thank you, Father, for Your everlasting, perfect love. Direct me to grow in love towards You and others. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Prayer About Anxiousness Post-Pandemic, Lockdowns, and World Uncertainty (Based on Luke 12:22-34)

Compassionate Heavenly Father, I come to You in Jesus’ Name to thank You that as a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, You invite me to bring my anxiety to You during this uncertain, post-COVID time.  During this time when we are still unsure of the long-term effects of COVID, vaccinations, and lockdowns, point me to Your Word to gain comfort and rest. Direct me to be an example to those who do not know the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. 

Thank you for this portion of Scripture as a beautiful reminder that I should not worry about tomorrow because You are working all things for good.  You want me not to become anxious when the problems of life surround me. Verse 25: “And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?”  Teach me to rest in You, knowing that verse 28 is truth. “If then God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith?” 

You tell me that I should not seek after the things of this world, but rather seek after You.  I ask You to give me the courage and direction to live in a manner that reflects this truth when anxiety threatens to overwhelm me.  I know that You want to provide for all my needs and show me how to correctly use Your provision.  Set my heart on seeking the kingdom of God above all else. Verse 31: “But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.” 

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

God’s Spiritual Discernment for the Believer in Jesus Christ

Heavenly Father, I come in Jesus’ Name to thank you, as a believer in Jesus Christ, for the opportunity to have spiritual discernment from You and Your Word (the Bible) through the Holy Spirit. This also gives me the capacity to see and understand what is right and wrong. 1 Corinthians 2:14-15a “But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things.“

I ask You to show me any corrections needed in my life and give the ability to follow them. I want to know Your perfect will for my life because it gives me a plan of safety, comfort, peace, and protection. Direct me to know when I am going in the right direction, and to experience the truth of the second half of Romans 8:6. “For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.“

It is a blessing that You, the Creator of this awesome universe, have an interest in my wellbeing. You want to guide me with love and wisdom along this life’s journey. Remind me often that You want to teach me through Your Word (the Bible), and that It alone has the power to overcome my tendency to sin and the work of the evil one (Satan).

Direct me to be open to the promise in Psalm 32:8. “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.” To God be the glory! Amen.

Purity of God’s Word

Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name, thank you for the great confidence I can have in Your word. Psalm 12:6 “The words of the LORD are pure words, like silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.“

God’s Word, Eternal and Everlasting

Unchanging Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name, thank you for the blessing and comfort expressed in Isaiah 40:8. “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.“

The Best Offense is a Good Defense

All powerful Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name, direct me to use the offense of Psalm 28:7 against Satan. “The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I will praise Him.“

Living Honorably

Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name, direct me to live conscious of the fact that I might not be here tomorrow. Proverbs 27:1 “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.“

God’s Future Plan is Good

Loving Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name, thank you that I can trust that Your future plan for me is always good. Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.“

God is in Control

All wise Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name, direct the people of the United States to acknowledge Psalm 33:12a. “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD.“
