Gracious Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name, thank you for the great blessing of salvation which gives me a home in heaven eternally. In John 3:15 Jesus said “that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

It has been a huge blessing and complete change for me when You saved me and did for me what You promised Israel in the Old Testament in Ezekiel 36:27a. “I will put My Spirit within you.” The indwelling of the Spirit has allowed me to have the Holy Spirit as my helper, guide in all truth, and a source of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, self control, wisdom, and power.

It is such a joy to see the effect that the power of Your Word has on my life. It has given me instruction on how to be saved and now, if I allow it, it will sanctify, instruct, and direct every phase of my life until I enter Heaven’s doors. Psalm 119:105Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Thank You that as a child of Yours, I can come to the place where all answers can be found. Hebrews 4:16Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and grace to help in time of need.” Direct me to continually incorporate Your Word in all situations and rely on it for all power.

I give thanks and praise for all Your attributes expressed in the Bible. I am specifically grateful for the following characteristics described by Your Names: the Lord my provider, the Lord my healer, the Lord my banner, the Lord my shepherd, the Lord my peace, the Lord my righteousness, and the Lord my sanctifier.

In Jesus’ Name, and from the bottom of my heart, thank you for who You are and for what You do for me. Amen.

Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name I come to thank You that in 1776 You put it on the hearts and minds of 56 men from 13 colonies to sign the Declaration of Independence for our freedom. We have been able to celebrate this event ever since that day. History tells us that many of these men were believers in You. I ask that You forgive us as a nation and as individuals for ignoring or just forgetting about all of the blood shed for our freedom.
It is because You have blessed us as a nation (Psalm 33:12aBlessed is the nation whose God is the LORD.“) that I have the privilege of experiencing the greatest liberty of all.
That liberty is the blessing of being able to be free from sin and eternal death in hell. You provided this for me through Jesus Christ. John 8:36 “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
In spite of all the chaos, ungodly activity, and false teaching about our godly heritage, I ask that You draw the next generation to Yourself through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  This will help them defend and keep freedom for their future.
Before I start celebrating the 4th with good food, family, friends, and all kinds of entertainment and fireworks, remind me to stop and think about what I am actually celebrating: living in a free nation and being able to worship You as my Creator, Savior, and Lord.
In Jesus’ Name, direct me to follow the admonition in Galatians 5:1Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.” Amen.

God’s 3 Steps for Encouragement from Him

Encouraging Heavenly Father, I come in the Name of Jesus to give You praise and thanks for the encouragement that comes through trusting in You. When all looks bleak and things are far from what I had expected or wanted, Your loving presence fills me with hope.

When I am in need of encouragement, direct me to do like David did in 1 Samuel 30:6. “Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God.

First step: Remind me to look back at all the past victories over sin and darkness that have been accomplished in Jesus’ Name. There have been many events recorded in the Bible and in more current history where You stepped in and redeemed even the worst situations. This is true in my own personal life as well. John 16:33These things have I spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.

Second step: Remind me that I am under Your divine protection. You can command Your angels to provide protection from the forces of evil. Psalm 121:7-8The LORD shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore.

Third step: Remind me as a child of Yours of the many powerful attributes You as my loving father have in directing and watching over me. 1 Chronicles 29:11Yours O LORD, is the greatness, the power and the glory, the victory and the majesty; for all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and You are exalted as head over all.

I ask that I would continually see You more clearly and be in pursuit of developing my relationship with You until I ultimately see Jesus face to face. Amen.

Father’s Day Prayer 2020

Lord, I come to You through the Name of Your Son, Jesus, to bring You praise and thanks on this day to specifically be able honor our fathers and grandfathers. This day is set aside for these men who had or are having a tremendous influence on our lives.

You have created the family to work best with different roles for our fathers and mothers, with You in the center of it all. You are the one who has put the family together. Psalm 127:3Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb is a reward.

I want to lift up to You all the fathers and grandfathers that I know in my circle of relationships to ask You to strengthen and encourage them in their relationships with their loved ones. Give them patience and wisdom to lead and guide with Your love. Show them how to effectively follow the instruction in Ephesians 6:4. “And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.” Have the goal of these fathers and grandfathers be what is expressed in in Proverbs 22:6. “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.

I acknowledge that some have experienced great pain around the subject of earthly fathers. I ask that You remind them to turn to You, the perfect Father who never fails or lets anyone down. Psalm 46:1-2aGod is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear.

In Jesus’ Name, I ask that You have a mighty movement of Your Spirit in fathers and grandfathers so that families will see what is expressed in Joshua 24:15b. “But for me and my house, we will serve the L0RD.” Amen.

Prayer About the Gift of God’s Grace

Gracious Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name, thank you for the privilege I have as a believer to come to the throne of grace. It is such a great blessing to receive Your grace, which is the love and mercy given by You. If I obey You, You will not hold anything back that will help me to live for You. Hebrews 4:16Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Forgive me for the times when I have chosen to live in the world of performance where I try to look to myself to be good enough to manage situations. Sometimes I accept that I am saved by grace, but then act as if works are what will sustain my new life in Christ.

Direct me to continually seek to deepen my relationship with You rather than just seeking Your blessings. Teach me to understand and recognize my limitations and that through my weaknesses, You develop my Christian character. My weaknesses are also the way You develop in me a sense of deep worship and praise. Psalm 34:1-2aI will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the LORD.

Thank you that when I am weak, if I ask, You will fill me with Your power that is stronger than any I could ever have on my own. It is Your power that makes me effective for You.

Show me how to find peace and comfort, as stated in 2 Corinthians 12:9a where Jesus said, “my grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.

It is in Your holy Name that I accept Your grace, Amen.

Memorial Day Appreciation Prayer 2020

Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name, thank you for putting it on the hearts and minds of some freed slaves many years ago to start the tradition of Memorial Day. This holiday is set aside for me to pause and honor those in the military who gave their lives for the freedoms I enjoy.

Thank you for the thousands of military men and women who over the years have sacrificed their lives for others, just like Jesus did for everyone. John 15:13Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.

This Memorial Day, direct me to think about and remember that many of the blessings I have and enjoy come at a high cost of life to others, and that freedom is not free. Encourage me to appreciate their sacrifices with gratitude. Thank you for the men and women who are now serving our country in the military by defending our freedom.

I ask that You give healing and comfort to those who are living with the devastation of war and terror. As hard as it is, encourage the families of these war heroes to think more of the honor of their loved one’s service than their sacrifice. Bless them with the help they need, whether it be physical, mental, or spiritual.

Give all of these people the understanding that You sent Your Son to die so that all who choose a relationship with You by accepting Jesus as Savior can ultimately reside in Heaven. In the meantime, remind them that they can experience John 14:27 if they have a relationship with You. “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not Your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

In Jesus’ Name, thank you for the benefits of the sacrifice of Jesus and many in the military. Amen.

Prayer About 4 of God’s Overflowing Kindnesses

Heavenly Father, I come before You through the saving Name of Your Son Jesus to bring You thanks, praise, and reverence for Your overflowing kindness to me. Psalm 100:4aEnter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.” What an amazing truth that in myself I am nothing, but in You I can find purpose in life.

Long before the world was even made, You chose me to be holy in Your eyes. 1 Peter 1:16Because it is written, “be holy, for I am holy.‘” In spite of my sin, shame, and hard heart, You have given me a way to be reconciled to You and to be part of Your family as a son or daughter of the King through Jesus’ saving work on the cross. Your kindness to me is far deeper and stronger than I could ever fathom.

It is an awesome blessing that because I have an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ, I can enjoy the benefits of salvation, the gifts of the Spirit, the power to do God’s will, and the assurance of living forever in heaven with Christ. Ephesians 1:3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.

Father, I am forever grateful and indebted to You for giving me, through Your kindness, a Kingly inheritance, eternal bliss, and a blessed life with You. I ask that You direct my response to Your kindness to be nothing short of complete devotion and sacrifice to You and Your will now and forever. You deserve nothing less than everything I have.

In Jesus’ precious Name, Amen.

Mother’s Day 2020

Heavenly Father, I come before You today to thank You for the love and selfless compassion that my mother has given to me. Thank you for the embodiment of love that she has been in my life. Direct me to honor my mother on this special day and let her know how much she has meant to me. If she has passed on, I give You thanks and praise for the pleasant memories of her.

Thank you for the many mothers who exemplify 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 as a beautiful descriptor of a mother’s love. “Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

I pray for and ask You to remind all mothers-to-be, especially those that are considering abortion, to understand that the child within them is known and created by You, and You have a plan for their child’s life. This is expressed in Jeremiah 1:5. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.

There is no greater blessing and honor for a mother than to raise up a child in the way of the Lord and to teach them to serve and honor You. Thank you for the critical role a mother plays in this process.

Teach me to encourage and help mothers wherever possible. Direct me to serve mothers and help with their often overwhelming task of raising up God-fearing children. Thank you for the blessings of a mother’s love, but even more for Your love, which is far greater and has provided me with salvation.

Even if my mother was not a positive influence in my life, I am thankful that the true source of love and acceptance comes from You, not from this world. Romans 5:8But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

In Jesus’ Name, thank you for the blessing of my mother. Amen.

Coronavirus Prayer of Comfort

Comforting Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name, thank you that as a believer in Jesus Christ I can rest in the same promise that You made to Israel in Isaiah 41:10. “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

In this time of unprecedented chaos and uncertainty in our nation and world, I ask You to lead me in the paths of righteousness. Teach me how to draw comfort from You on a daily basis. Direct me to Scriptures, music, and fellowship opportunities that exalt Your Name and encourage me.

If I get anxious or overburdened with all that is happening, remind me to practice what is written in the old hymn, All Your Anxiety:

“Is there a heart over bound by sorrow? Is there a life weighed down by care? Come to the cross, each burden bearing. All your anxiety leave it there. All your anxiety, all your care, bring it to the mercy seat, leave it there; never a burden He can’t bear, never a friend like Jesus.”

Enable me to share the same comfort You are giving me with those You have put in my realm of influence, such as my friends, relatives, children, and grandchildren. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

In Jesus’ precious Name, thank you for the comfort of Your Word, the Bible. Amen.

P.S. If you cannot say “the Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” like David did in Psalm 27:1, we encourage you to look at the salvation tab.

Prayer from Psalm 34 on Crying Out to the Lord During Trouble

Gracious Heavenly Father, I come to You in in the Name of Jesus, humbled and honored to be in Your presence. I want to have praise always on my lips for You, but it can be difficult sometimes in these troubling times. Verse 1: “I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

Thank you for the encouragement and example in this psalm of what David did in his times of trouble. Verse 6: “This poor man cried out, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all of his troubles.

The path You have for me can sometimes be hard to see and Your perfect plan can be difficult to decipher. However, I choose to put my trust in You nonetheless, knowing that You have all good attributes and that You are sovereign and reign over everything.

You promise great blessings to me as Your child but You also require obedient participation in how I live. Direct me, in addition to crying out to You, to genuinely trust You. Verse 8: “Oh taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him!

Will You also continue to develop in me the character traits expressed in verses 13 and 14. “Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit. Depart from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.”

I know that in life brokenness and afflictions will come, but You are mighty to save and will deliver me from the fire. In Jesus’ Name, when all is said and done, thank you for the promise in verse 19: “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all.” Amen.
