Prayer About God’s Comfort: “For My yoke is easy…”

Heavenly Father, I want to come to You in Jesus’ Name and thank You for being the God of all comfort, who gives me reassurance in difficult situations. I am thankful for the privilege of being able to come to You to receive mercy, grace, and help in my times of need. Hebrews 4:16 “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

Direct me to experience what You have told me in Matthew 11:28-30. “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

I ask that You lead me to:

  • Scriptures in Your Word that speak of Your comfort in times of trouble
  • Christian music that exalts Your Name
  • Fellowship with other believers that will encourage me to live for You

Enable me to share the same comfort You have given to me with my children, grandchildren, and others in my realm of influence. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”

I praise You, my God from whom all blessings flow. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Comforting Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name, thank you for encouraging me to comfort others with Your Word when they are in need. Your Word will never fail anyone because You are everywhere present, all knowing, all powerful, and unchanging. By helping others in their difficult situations, You give me a better perspective on my needs and how You want to and do give me comfort with my life problems.

Thank you for the times when You give me comfort through Your mercies and grace. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” It is a blessing that You share in Your Word, the Bible, what You want me to do so that You can comfort me. You encourage me to read Your Word, pray, listen to biblical music, and fellowship with other believers. I can only share with others Your comfort after I learn how to be comforted myself.

Remind me often how important it is to build a strong foundation in Your Word before the storm comes. It is very difficult to build a strong foundation in the midst of a storm. Teach me to practice what is expressed in 1 Peter 5:6-7 so that when the time comes that I need Your comfort, I will be ready. “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”

Enable me to be alert to the needs of others and comfort those around me that need the same comfort You have given me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Prayer Regarding Comfort When Resting in God

Heavenly Father, I come to You in the Name of Jesus to thank and praise You for the rest I can find in Your arms. You invite me to cast all my burdens and cares upon You, and You will carry me through this life.

I appreciate what Jesus said in Mathew 11:28-30. “Come to Me all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest in your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” This verse seems like it would be easy to do, but I ask You to forgive me for the many times I give my cares and burdens to You, then take them back shortly thereafter and begin to worry or try to solve them in my own strength. Since I can do nothing apart from You, teach me to bring all things to You and leave them there, whether big or small, difficult or easy.

Develop in me the daily habit of practicing Hebrews 4:16. “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” ​Guide me to also accept and rest in Your promise in 2 Corinthians 12:9a. Jesus said: “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”

Remind me often that each day that I live is a testament to Your amazing grace and that I can claim nothing for myself. I thank You for the privilege of being a believer in Jesus Christ and being able to ​experience these verses and many others ​as a reality in my life. As this musical phrase states, “to God be the glory, great things He has done.”

Resting in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Thanks for the Comfort and Advantages for the Believer who has Faith in God

Heavenly Father, I come to You in the powerful Name of Jesus to thank You for all the wonderful blessings that come from living a life of faith in You. I am comforted when I am in Your arms. I know that I can rest in Your presence and that You will sustain me and protect me from the evil one. I am grateful for the promise and teaching in Psalm 112, which states that, as a believer, if I respect and reverence You, believe Your promises and gladly obey Your directions, I can expect You to completely take care of me. Psalm 112:1 “Praise the LORD! Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who delights greatly in His commandments.”

Daily teach me to fear You more and understand the awe of Your greatness. Open my eyes to Your all-encompassing strength, knowledge, presence, love, grace, and mercy. Guide me to rely on You for every need that I have. Philippians 4:19 “And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” It is a great blessing to know that if I completely trust in You, You will take care of me. My fears will subside…even the fear of death. Thank you that faith, respect, and obedience to God will lead to a blessed life.

Prayer for Comfort During Grief

**This prayer is for those who have lost a loved one or a friend due to death**

Heavenly Father, I come to You in Jesus’ Name to thank You that I can come to You as Your Child. In John 6:47 Jesus said, “most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life.” Being separated from a loved one or a friend by death happens to all of us. It is probably one of the hardest, most heart-breaking things we are facing or will have to face. Direct me to understand and accept that the death of this loved one or friend was no surprise to you, but ​is part of Your perfect plan. Job 14:5 “A person’s days are determined; You have decreed the number of his months and have set limits he cannot exceed” (NIV).

At this difficult time, I do not comprehend everything in John 16:20, but I am believing and trusting in Your promise. “You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy” (NIV).

It is such a blessing that You have created me ​with the ability to remember this special person in my life. Sometimes it will bring forth difficult times of sorrow, but under Your direction and time, You will bring comfort and joy from precious memories. Proverbs 10:7 “The memory of the righteous is a blessing” (ESV).

Since ​being without this person has radically changed my life and I must develop a new normal, I am depending on You for wisdom and direction. I am going to do what You tell me to in 1 Peter 5:7 “Cast all your anxiety upon him for he cares for you.”

I ask You to direct me to put my focus on the following promises:

Psalm 32:8 “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” (NIV)

2 Corinthians 12:9 Jesus said, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”

Philippians 4:19 “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

Thank you for the peace and comfort You provide with these scriptures as well as many others.

In Jesus’ loving Name, Amen.

Prayer for Comfort in These Troubling Times

Heavenly Father, we come to You today with thanksgiving and praise ​for the comfort and understanding ​You give us in Your Word of how good can come from all of the heartache and confusion that is happening in our nation and world. As much as we do not understand why all of these things are happening, it does not change Romans 8:28. “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

Direct us to do what You tell us in Jeremiah 33:3. “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” Encourage us to give help and comfort to others wherever possible. ​Show us how to be sensitive to the ultimate eternal need that every person has ​for a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a future home in heaven.

Among all our ​helping and concerns for the needs of others​, show us how to pray for people to ​make their final destiny in life be their top priority. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” John 3:16.

In closing Lord, in whatever situation we are in, give us comfort from these three attributes of Yours:

You Are Almighty

“‘Ah, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and  outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You.” Jeremiah 32:17

You Are All-Knowing

“O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways.” Psalm 139:1-3

You Are Ever-Present

“‘I am a God near at hand,” says the LORD, “and not a God afar off.”‘ Jeremiah 23:23

In Jesus’ Name I thank You for Your peace and ask You to draw me close to Yourself, Amen.

God’s Comfort: “For My yoke is easy…”
