Prayer About Godly Life Lessons to Follow from Noah Building the Ark (Based on Genessis 6-8)

Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name, thank you for recording in the Bible Noah’s example of living a godly, obedient life. His story illustrates that when evil is all around me, I can still have a good relationship with You. Although I am far from perfect, by following Noah’s example I can find what he did in Genessis 6:8. “But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.” I ask that You teach me how to listen to You like Noah did. You gave him detailed instructions on how to build the ark and showed him what was needed to care for his family and the many animals during their time on the ark. Genesis 6:21 And you shall take for yourself of all the food that is eaten, and you shall gather it to yourself; and it shall be food for you and for them.

Develop in me a trust in You and Your Word like Noah had. It must have been difficult for him to trust for so many years that he was hearing correctly and following Your exact instructions. But he did, and I should also. Genesis 6:22Thus Noah did; according to all that God commanded him, so he did.” Direct me to have the unwavering faith of Noah when I follow Your commands to me.

Thank you for the great lesson I can learn from this story that when You speak through Your Word and Spirit, I should listen, follow, trust, and obey. Thank you for the physical reminder of this story that comes when You show a beautiful rainbow in the sky, signifying that You made a covenant that there will never be a worldwide flood again. Genessis 9:13I set my rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Prayer About Lessons from the Great Heroes of Faith (Based on Hebrews 11)

Faithful Heavenly Father, I come to You in Jesus’ Name to thank You for the lessons of faith displayed in Hebrews 11. I ask You to continually strengthen my faith, because I want it to be the most essential part of my life. I confess and ask forgiveness for the times when this has not been the case. Hebrews 11:6a But without faith it is impossible to please Him…

Remind me that my faith should result in righteous action, like Noah building the ark after You warned him of the coming flood. Hebrews 11:7By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.” Direct me to follow Your commands even when I do not understand all the details. Hebrews 11:8By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.

Faith invites Your work in my life, but it does not guarantee that Your work will be completed in my timing. It may well be like the people in Hebrews 11:13. “These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them.” Even when Your promises are not fulfilled in my lifetime, let me continue to trust You, and keep me from doubting Your faithfulness.

Show me that even though following You requires sacrifice, it will be worth it in the end. Hebrews 11:24-26 By faith Moseschoosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward.” Direct me to read and be encouraged by the rest of the examples of great faith in this chapter.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Prayer About Staying True and Faithful to God and His Word (Based on the Book of Jude)

All wise Heavenly Father, I come in Jesus’ Name to thank You for Your Word and the infinite value of eternal life. It is a blessing that You trust me and other followers of Jesus Christ with the awesome responsibility and privilege to defend the truth of Your Word and share it around the world. There are many people who are in opposition to You, and to those of us who are Christ followers. However, Your truth always stands strong.

Thank you for Jude’s warning about false teachers wanting to destroy a Christ centered life, discredit the truth and power of Your Word, and destroy the unity of believers working together. Verse 3:Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.” I ask that as a child of Yours, You direct me according to Your will in this battle for Your truth to prevail.

In Your grace, You reveal Yourself in Your Word and through Jesus Christ. Therefore, show me all that I can know about Your truth, even though there are some things I can’t fully understand with my finite mind. Lead me in practicing Verses 21 and 22. “But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

Thank you that in the middle of much false teaching and distraction around me, You give the promise in Verse 24 that You will keep me from falling if I remain faithful to You. “Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy.”

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

God’s Gift of Courageous and Consistent Faith Based on Joshua 1:1-9

Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name I come before You, thankful for the privilege to be in Your presence. It is through Jesus alone that I can speak and be with You. It is a great blessing You have given me in Joshua 1:1-9 to see how You encouraged Joshua and strengthened his faith. Throughout the Bible, You show that You want to do the same for me. Like You told Joshua in his difficult time, You want me to look to You through Your Word for guidance, and not around me.

Verse 7: Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go.” It is a wonderful gift from You when I experience courage and consistency in my faith while handling all situations in my life. Remind me often that without Your leading, life can be frightening, but with You in control it will be an exciting adventure.

Just as You assured Joshua that You would be with him in his new challenges, You will be with me. Verse 5b:As I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you.” It is my desire that You strengthen me and give me more faith and Godly courage. Keep my mind and heart focused on You by directing me to meditate on Your Word and be obedient to what you reveal.

Whenever I face new and difficult situations, direct me to take courage in knowing that You are with me wherever I go. Put verse 9 in my mind. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Thank you for the encouragement, peace, and comfort from this portion of Scripture. Amen.

God’s Defense for Believers

Lord, I come to You in the name of my great savior and defender, Jesus Christ. I am aware that I am constantly assaulted by the evil one. He takes every opportunity he can find to trip me up and cause as much chaos as possible. I am not strong enough to resist him myself. Therefore, I thank You for the shield of protection You have put around me as expressed by David in 2 Samuel 22:2-3. David said: “The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; the God of my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge; my Savior, You save me from violence.

It is such a blessing to rest in Your arms knowing that I do not have to fear because You are always on my side. Your presence is always surrounding me and Your love never leaves me. I appreciate so much the message expressed in this beautiful old hymn by Francis Crosby:

Safe in the Arms Of Jesus

Safe in the arms of Jesus, safe from corroding care.
Safe from the world’s temptations; sin cannot harm me there.
Free from the blight of sorrow, free from my doubts and fears; only a few more trials, only a few more tears!

Safe in the arms of Jesus, safe on His gentle breast; there by His love overshadowed, sweetly my soul shall rest.

Direct me to be constantly mindful of Your promise in Psalm 46:1. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Thank you that I have the privilege of bringing these thoughts in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Thanks for the Comfort and Advantages for the Believer who has Faith in God

Heavenly Father, I come to You in the powerful Name of Jesus to thank You for all the wonderful blessings that come from living a life of faith in You. I am comforted when I am in Your arms. I know that I can rest in Your presence and that You will sustain me and protect me from the evil one. I am grateful for the promise and teaching in Psalm 112, which states that, as a believer, if I respect and reverence You, believe Your promises and gladly obey Your directions, I can expect You to completely take care of me. Psalm 112:1Praise the LORD! Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who delights greatly in His commandments.

Daily teach me to fear You more and understand the awe of Your greatness. Open my eyes to Your all-encompassing strength, knowledge, presence, love, grace, and mercy. Guide me to rely on You for every need that I have. Philippians 4:19And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” It is a great blessing to know that if I completely trust in You, You will take care of me. My fears will subside…even the fear of death. Thank you that faith, respect, and obedience to God will lead to a blessed life.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

God’s Faithfulness to His Word

Heavenly Father, I come to You in Jesus’ Name to thank you for being faithful in all the promises that You express to me in Your Word, and for never abandoning me or breaking any of Your promises. “As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tested; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.Psalm 18:30

Forgive me for the times I have had the tendency to go back to being self-reliant instead of fully trusting in You. Remind me that when I am facing any temptation or crisis in my life I can rely on Your Word. “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.1 Corinthians 10:13

I ask You to enable me to see and understand the big picture You have laid out in Your Scriptures about Your faithfulness. Guide me to have complete confidence and rest in Your Word so that I can trust You with everything in my life and experience the peace of God that passes all understanding. “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6

My God, I thank You that I can come to You in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Developing Faith in God

Heavenly Father, thank you for giving me the faith to believe and accept what Your Word says about my salvation: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.John 3:16

I ask that You will give me the same kind of faith in Your Word that I had for my initial salvation to enable me to live the Christian life. “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.Romans 10:17

Father, show me how to build my faith in You by reading and understanding Your Word. Direct me also to put my faith and trust in the promises throughout Your Scriptures so that I can live my Christian life by faith and not by sight. “For we walk by faith, not by sight.2 Corinthians 5:7

Empower me to search the Scriptures to see what they say with regard to any and all situations in my life. May I obtain a complete faith to rest in and act on your promises. Direct me to change my life to be more godly and serve You under Your protective and mighty hand: “Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.Ephesians 6:16

Thank you, Father, that through faith in You, I can turn from anything that I have mistakenly trusted in and put my faith in You and You alone.

I bring these requests to You in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
