In Jesus’ Name, all powerful, all knowing, everywhere present, unchanging, and merciful Heavenly Father, I thank You that I can bring all my anxieties and burdens to You to be resolved. Psalm 37:3-4Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Direct me to understand and use the instructions in Your Word (the Bible) on to how to deal with the problems and burdens that life presents. Teach me when I am weak to let go and give my situations to You, who is strong and powerful. Show me how this means letting go and letting God, which is a moment-by-moment choice that needs to be my daily lifestyle. Isaiah 41:10Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

Make me aware of any burdens that I am carrying from the past that I can do nothing about, or potential problems in the future that I am dwelling on now. These things only take away from my ability to focus on Your goodness. Give me the strength and wisdom to transfer ownership of my burdens from myself to You.  As the hymn Burdens Lifted at Calvary says, remind me to “cast Your care on Jesus today, leave your worry and fear; burdens are lifted at Calvary, Jesus is very near.

It is a great blessing in the difficult and uncertain times we are living in to know and rest in what You express in Lamentations 3:22-23. “Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

God’s Desire for a Believer’s Complete Commitment to Him

Loving Heavenly Father, I come to You through the Name of Jesus, longing to be totally committed to You and Your purpose for me in this world. Thank you for telling me in Your Word, the Bible, what Your desire is for me. Deuteronomy 6:5 You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.

I realize that in my own strength, I am too weak and frail to accomplish what You want for me. Direct me to be alert and aware of all kinds of possible temptations that come my way. Since temptations strike in my most vulnerable areas of life, give me a sensitivity to the subtleties of them (like a news alert). Spiritually equip me to overcome the desires and the powers of the flesh and Satan. It is You alone, through Your Word and prayer, who can provide the strength to shore up my defenses against the power of my flesh. Mark 14:38 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Father, it is my desire, with Your direction, to practice Jesus’ commandment in Mathew 22:37-39. “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’

In Jesus’ Name, thank you for saving me from my sinful flesh and giving me the opportunity to live in the Spirit. Amen.

Prayer About the Importance of Reverence for God

Sovereign Heavenly Father, I come before Your throne through the life, death, and resurrection of Your Son Jesus. Thank you for this privilege as Your child. Forgive me for the times when I have not practiced reverence for You the way I should. I ask You for insight and greater understanding of Your character, love, comfort, knowledge, mercy, grace, and power.

Infatuate my heart with Your splendor by removing all scales off of my eyes and directing me to more seriously do what is expressed in Hebrews 12:28. “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.

I long to see You for who You truly are and for You to dispel any preconceived notions or ideas of Your character that are not true. Protect my heart from viewing You as anything less than great and deserving of my complete reverence. Give me a righteous fear (respect) of You and from that fear, let understanding and wisdom grow in me.

In Your Word in Proverbs 9:10, You say that “the fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Direct me to fully comprehend that reverence for You is the only proper posture I can take when I begin to know You for who you really are.

It is such a great blessing to read and meditate on the promise You have expressed in Psalm 128:1. “Blessed is every one who fears the LORD, who walks in His ways.” Constantly remind me to be open to Psalm 86:11. “Teach me Your way, O LORD; I will walk in Your truth; unite my heart to fear [reverence] Your name.

God, Our Burden Bearer

Burden bearing Heavenly Father, I come in the name of Jesus my Savior to thank and praise You for the comfort and freedom I can find in Your love. You graciously tell me to cast all of my burdens and troubles on You. It is a great blessing that You promise to sustain me in all situations. Psalm 55:22Cast your burden on the LORD, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.

It is during my shortcomings and failures that I become the platform from which Your grace and perfection shine. You are the only one who can increase the strength of the weak and give power to the powerless. It is wonderful that You are never too tired or too busy to listen and help. Isaiah 40:28b-29The Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength.

Direct me to remember the fact that I completely trusted in You for my salvation, so there’s no reason why I should doubt that You can handle my day to day needs. According to Your Word (the Bible) it certainly is not part of Your character to bring me this far in life, then just leave me on my own.

Remind me always to look to You for comfort and direction in hard times and not to turn to the ways of the world. In Matthew 11:28 Jesus said, “come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

I praise You, Lord, that each morning, if I am willing to ask and accept it, You will send the strength for the day. It is as sure as the sunrise. Lamentations 3:22-23Through the LORD’S mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” Amen.

Prayer About 4 of God’s Overflowing Kindnesses

Heavenly Father, I come before You through the saving Name of Your Son Jesus to bring You thanks, praise, and reverence for Your overflowing kindness to me. Psalm 100:4aEnter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.” What an amazing truth that in myself I am nothing, but in You I can find purpose in life.

Long before the world was even made, You chose me to be holy in Your eyes. 1 Peter 1:16Because it is written, “be holy, for I am holy.‘” In spite of my sin, shame, and hard heart, You have given me a way to be reconciled to You and to be part of Your family as a son or daughter of the King through Jesus’ saving work on the cross. Your kindness to me is far deeper and stronger than I could ever fathom.

It is an awesome blessing that because I have an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ, I can enjoy the benefits of salvation, the gifts of the Spirit, the power to do God’s will, and the assurance of living forever in heaven with Christ. Ephesians 1:3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.

Father, I am forever grateful and indebted to You for giving me, through Your kindness, a Kingly inheritance, eternal bliss, and a blessed life with You. I ask that You direct my response to Your kindness to be nothing short of complete devotion and sacrifice to You and Your will now and forever. You deserve nothing less than everything I have.

In Jesus’ precious Name, Amen.

Drawing Close to God

Lord, I come to You today in the Name of Your Son Jesus. Thank you for the instruction in Your Word about how if I draw close to You, You will draw close to me. “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-mindedJames 4:8. I realize from this verse and many others that You want to draw close to me and have a personal relationship with me.

Remind me daily that one of my greatest needs for developing closeness with You, in addition to reading my Bible and praying, is to have very short accounts with regard to sin. You tell me in Psalm 66:18 that if I do not take care of sin in my life, You do not even hear me. “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear.”

Thank you for providing a way in 1 John 1:9 for me to be able to clear up my communication line with You. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Direct me to always have an open line of communication with You. Show me through Your Word and prayer how You can direct me onto the straight path of righteousness.

I ask that 2 Corinthians 2:14 will always be true in my life. “Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.

Thank you that I can bring this prayer in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Living Under the Sovereignty of God

Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name, I thank you for taking an interest in everything about me. In Psalm 139:1-3, Your Word says, “O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways.

Thank you for the encouragement and peace that I can find even while living in this troubled world by recognizing some of Your many attributes:

You have no limitations

Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for YouJeremiah 32:17.

You are unchanging at all times

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and foreverHebrews 13:8.

You promise to always be with me

“Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall hold me, and your right hand shall hold mePsalm 139: 7-10.

Direct me not to be living in anxiety and fear. Instead, may I wholly trust in Your sovereignty over my life, and know that You are in control and nothing can defeat Your purpose or derail Your plan for me.

Show me how to rest in the truth of Proverbs 19:21. “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.” (NIV)

I bring this prayer in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

God as Counselor

Almighty and wise counselor, I come to You in Jesus’ Name. As a believer in Jesus Christ, I thank You for living within me through the Holy Spirit and for the wise counsel you offer through Jesus. In Colossians 2:3, Jesus is described as the One “in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”
Forgive me for the times when my mind gets so caught up in the need to make decisions that I go to friends and family members for council instead of coming to You, the most important advisor. Direct me to come to You first and base my decisions on Your wisdom rather than on worldly insights.
Give me discernment to know that sometimes You use other people to show me what and how You want something accomplished in my life. “Where there is no counsel,  the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety” Proverbs 11:14.
I recognize my need to depend on You. I ask You to continue to shape and mold me into the person You created me to be. Direct me to always do like the children of Israel did when they were in difficult situations: “then the children of Israel arose and went up to the house of God to inquire of God…”  Judges 20:18.
Thank you for Your ever present hand in every situation in my life, and for allowing me to bring this prayer in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Being Obedient to God

Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name, I thank You for the fact that as Christ lived in obedience to the Father, I too can firmly trust You by faith to enable me to live a life of love and obedience. “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His Love.” John 15:10

Therefore, since obedience is such a key towards great blessing in my life, I ask You to guide me in the following areas:

HEART: That I will be able to love You more than any other relationship, activity or possession.

WILL: That I will be able to commit myself completely to You.

MIND: That I will know and understand Your Word, so that it affects everything I think and do.

BODY: That I will be appreciative for You giving me all my strengths and abilities for work, pleasure, and fulfillment.

MONEY: That I will use it wisely for my physical needs and for the development of Your Kingdom.

FUTURE: Show me how to be obedient to Your Holy Word because the long-term rewards of obeying You are greater than anything else in the world.

Father, thank you for Your Holy Word giving me lessons from the past, instructions for the present and information about the future. “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life” John 6:63. Guide my life to bring glory to You, for You deserve all the glory.

Thank you that I can bring this prayer in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Loved by God

Loving and faithful Father, I thank you that every day I can rest on Your promise that You are never changing, always faithful, and loving. Despite my failures and shortcomings, Your love never wavers, falters or comes up short.

Your assurance that You will never leave or forsake me brings great peace and joy in my life. “If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself2 Timothy 2:13.

Lead me to comprehend and take seriously what it cost You for me to be able to have a wonderful love relationship with You. “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” Romans 5:8.

Direct me not to use Your grace and mercy as a means to simply do as I wish or as an excuse to sin. Rather, show me how to use it as a platform from which to extend Your hand to others. Teach me to trust in the same promise You gave Israel in Isaiah 43:2-3 when I go through difficult times. “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior…”

May my experiences and actions be an example for others to see how You demonstrate Your love and faithfulness.

I bring these thoughts in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
