Heavenly Father, I come to You in Jesus’ Name to thank You for being faithful in all the promises that You express to me in Your Word. You never abandon me or break any of Your promises. Psalm 18:30 As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tested; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.

Forgive me for the times I have had the tendency to go back to being self-reliant instead of fully trusting in You. Remind me that when I am facing any temptation or crisis in my life, I can rely on Your Word. 1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

Enable me to see and understand the big picture You have laid out in Your Scriptures about Your faithfulness. Direct me to have complete confidence and rest in Your Word so that I can trust You with everything in my life and experience Your peace that passes all understanding. “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6

Thank you that I can come to You no matter what situation I am in. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Prayer About Considering God’s Word as a Compass (Based on Proverbs 3:1-12)

All wise Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ powerful Name, thank you for the illustration about the functioning of a compass and Your Word. Just like a compass always leads to true North, Your Word always leads to truth and the right direction. John 17:17Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.” Direct me to use Your Word the same way I use a compass: to fully trust in its accuracy and not ignore it to go my own way. Proverbs 3:5Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.

Show me how, just as I need to be obedient to follow the directions a compass gives, to be obedient to what Your Word tells me. Proverbs 3:6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Forgive me for the times I do not daily follow Your compass (the Bible) by storing Your Word in my heart and mind as a deterrent to sin. Keep reminding me that Your Word, the Bible, is the only sure guide for living a pure life.

Thank you for expressing in Proverbs 3:1-2 that following Your compass (Your Word) will make life better and more peaceful. “My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commands; for length of days and long life and peace they will add to you.” It is a blessing to know that while a physical compass can break and give wrong directions, You and Your Word are infallible. Hebrews 13:8Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Prayer About the Trustworthiness of God’s Word (Based on Psalm 12 and 33)

Author: Elton Streyle, Contributor: Noah, Photography and Editing: Ali

Trustworthy Heavenly Father, I come to You in the Name of Your perfect Son, Jesus Christ, to give You thanks and praise for the trustworthiness of Your Word, the Bible. There is no other book or writing in the world that has the accuracy, validity, and breath of life that the Bible has. David reflects on Your words as pure and dependable. Psalm 12:6The words of the LORD are pure words, like silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

It is a blessing that You have given concrete evidence that allows me to fully trust in Your Word. You have shown time and again that Your Scriptures have been, and continue to be, faithful in the promises You have made. Looking at the many prophecies in Your Word that have been fulfilled in the past, I can rest assured that all future ones will come to pass as well. One of the best examples of this is all that was predicted in the Bible to happen, and has happened, surrounding Jesus’ birth, life, death, and resurrection.

I ask for forgiveness for the times when I fail to read, trust, and use this powerful gift (Your Word) that You have given to me. Thank you for the strong Christian foundation I can build from Your Word and that I can cling to every promise You have made to me. Direct me into an even deeper, more trusting relationship with You as I continue to read and explore Your written Word and meditate on it. Psalm 33:4 For the word of the LORD is right, and all His work is done in truth.” It is a blessing that You are perfectly holy and that Your Word can be completely trusted. Your character of faithfulness is proven, and You magnify Your Word above everything, including Jesus’ Name. Psalm 138:2bFor You have magnified Your word above all Your name.

I put my trust in You, and You alone. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

The Blessing of Listening to and Obeying God’s Word

Author: Elton Streyle, Contributor: Noah, Photography and Editing: Ali

Heavenly Father, I come in Jesus’ Name to thank and praise You for the blessing, encouragement, direction, and power of Your Word (the Bible). It is a blessing that I have unlimited access and am able to read and hear from You through Your Word about the truth of Your Word for believers and unbelievers. As a believer in Jesus Christ, You promise to go before me in whatever situations I face. Psalm 119:105Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” It is like walking in the dark woods with a light shining in front of me to show me the way and point out any dangers ahead.

Since all Scripture comes directly from You, direct me to diligently study all of Your Word and apply what I learn in my daily life. James 1:22But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” Thank you for the work and power of Your Word in my life at the time of my salvation and that I have been born again. It is the Word of God being planted in me when I came to saving faith in Christ that gives me a new life now and for eternity.

Your Word is always used for the positive, and the Holy Spirit will continue to use it to develop me spiritually until I enter Heaven’s gates. 1 Peter 1:23 Having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever.” It is the ultimate blessing to read and listen to Your Word and act accordingly because all good things flow from You, and You have revealed Yourself through Your Word. Thank you for the instructions You provide in the Bible on how to live the Christian life.

I ask for those around the world who do not have the privilege of having a Bible, that You work in miraculous ways to provide them access to a Bible in their native language so that they may know You. Amen.

The Power Of God’s Written Word

All-powerful Heavenly Father, I approach You in Jesus’ Name to thank you for giving me Your written Word and for the privilege to read and  understand how it works in shaping my life. “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heartHebrews 4:12.
We are living in a society where we are constantly encouraged to look at and do things that tempt us to live impure lives.  I ask You to direct me to be sensitive to the answers You have laid out in Your Word and live according to them. Give me the desire for the wisdom in Psalm 119:11. “Your Word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.
When I am tempted, show me how to practice the same Scripture defense Jesus did in Matthew 4 when He was tempted by Satan. Three times while in the wilderness, He came back at the Enemy with the power of God’s Word.
Jesus said the first time in verse 4, ‘”It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.‘” The second time in verse 7, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the LORD your God.‘” The third time in verse 10, “‘Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.'”

I praise You that there is nothing in this world that can come against me that the power of Your Word can’t overcome.

I bring these thoughts in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

I come to You in Jesus’ Name, Heavenly Father, to thank You for the light that You give as I walk through dark areas of life. “Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path” Psalm 119:105. “The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyesPsalm 19:8.

Father, empower me to comprehend the awesomeness of the fact that all Scripture is You speaking to me in written form. “All scripture is God-breathed2 Timothy 3:16.

Direct me to live my spiritual life in the same way as my physical life. Just as I can’t live without physical food each day, I need to have You give me a daily intake of Your Word and a time of quietness to hear from You. “Be still and know that I am your GodPsalm 46:10.

Show me how to mold my opinions and values around You and Your ways, not around the society that I live in. Thank you for putting in Your Word all the direction I need to be able to live a life of peace and joy. “Teach me your way O LORD; I will walk in Your truth; unite my heart to fear Your name.Psalm 86:11.

Father, thank you for allowing me to bring these praises and requests in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
