Gracious Heavenly Father, I come to You through the Name of Your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to bring You praise, honor, and glory. My hope (certainty) is in You, for there is no other solid ground than that of Your Word, which is truth. All other places that I could put my trust are just illusions of the evil one, meant to trap me in false hope. Verse 5-6: “Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God, who made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them; who keeps truth forever.”

Forgive me for the times when I seem to be feeling distant from You and have difficulty trusting in You and Your Word, therefore seeking comfort and help in the things of this world. Direct me to heed the warning in Verse 3. “Do not put your trust in princes, nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help.” I ask that through daily meditation on Your Word and communicating with You through prayer, You will teach me how to put all my hope and trust in You. It is Your all-knowing, powerful omnipresence and assistance that gives me the confidence to live my life boldly for the kingdom, never having to be afraid; I know You go before me.

Thank you that while assistance from man is temporal and unstable, assistance from You is lasting and complete. As I look at this Psalm and see who You are and what You do, encourage me to practice what the end of Verse 10 directs. “The LORD shall reign forever- Your God, O Zion, to all generations. Praise the LORD!” (emphasis added).

In the powerful Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Prayer About God, Our Helpful Heavenly Father (Based on Isaiah 41:10)

In Jesus’ Name, all powerful, all knowing, everywhere present, unchanging, and merciful Heavenly Father, I thank You that I can bring all my anxieties and burdens to You to be resolved. Psalm 37:3-4Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Direct me to understand and use the instructions in Your Word (the Bible) on to how to deal with the problems and burdens that life presents. Teach me when I am weak to let go and give my situations to You, who is strong and powerful. Show me how this means letting go and letting God, which is a moment-by-moment choice that needs to be my daily lifestyle. Isaiah 41:10Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

Make me aware of any burdens that I am carrying from the past that I can do nothing about, or potential problems in the future that I am dwelling on now. These things only take away from my ability to focus on Your goodness. Give me the strength and wisdom to transfer ownership of my burdens from myself to You.  As the hymn Burdens Lifted at Calvary says, remind me to “cast Your care on Jesus today, leave your worry and fear; burdens are lifted at Calvary, Jesus is very near.

It is a great blessing in the difficult and uncertain times we are living in to know and rest in what You express in Lamentations 3:22-23. “Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
