All-wise Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name, I thank you for never getting tired of me coming to You for Your ever present guidance in my life. “For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding” Proverbs 2:6.
Forgive me for the times I wait until I am in trouble to ask for Your wisdom and direction. Show me through David’s example how to correctly communicate with You about all that happens in my life.
When David had to decide if He should go into battle with the Philistines He did the following: “And David inquired of God, saying, ‘Shall I go up against Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?”‘
You, God, responded with this statement: “Go up, for I will deliver them into your hand” 1 Chronicles 14:10.
Direct me to be like David when I am faced with a situation I am not sure how to handle. Rather than leaning on his previous wisdom, he wisely came to you again for guidance to make the correct choice.
“Therefore David inquired again of God, and God said to him, “You shall not go up after them; circle around them, and come upon them in front of the mulberry trees“‘ 1 Chronicles 14:14.
Show me how to have the obedience David had. “So David did as God commanded him, and they drove back the army of the Philistines from Gibeon
as far as Gezer” 1 Chronicles 14:16.
Loving Father, I ask for the kind of faith David had to rely on Your wisdom in all that I do. Encourage me to look to You for guidance in every circumstance, no matter how sure I might feel that I know the right decision.
I bring these requests in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
