2 Corinthians 10:4-5 “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”
If you ever have negative and destructive thoughts come into your mind when you are trying to pray, or at any other time, try this:
Read or quote Galatians 2:20 until the thought disappears. “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”
Meditating on this verse or other verses will help you to refocus on God instead of your negative thoughts. Committing Scriptures to memory will also be useful as you do this.
Here are some other verses you could use:
Romans 12:2 “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
1 John 4:4 “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”
Romans 12:19 “…”Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.”
“One way to recollect the mind easily in the time of prayer, and preserve it more in tranquility, is not to let it wander too far at other times.”
