Heavenly Father, I come in Jesus’ Name to thank You for explaining the work of angels in Your Word (the Bible). You make it very clear that angels are not to be worshiped or prayed to. In the book of Revelation, an angel instructs John about this. In Revelation 22:8b, John said, “and when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things.” Then, in Revelation 22:9a,c, the angel said, “see that you do not do that… [instead,] worship God.

Even though most of the time we don’t recognize it, You direct Your angels to work on behalf of believers. Hebrews 1:14Are they [angels] not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?” It is a great comfort to know that You can direct Your angels to be close to us in every situation. Psalm 34:7The angel of the LORD encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them.” It is encouraging to know that Your angels are also very powerful. Psalm 103:20Bless the LORD, you His angels, who excel in strength, who do His word, heeding the voice of His word.” Thank You for the many examples You give in Scripture, such as the one in Acts 5:19, that help us comprehend the work of angels. “But at night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought them out.

I appreciate the final and greatest act of angels on behalf of a believer in Jesus Christ. When a believer dies, the angels escort him/her to eternal glory with You in Heaven. Luke 16:22aSo it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom.” Thank you for all of the encouragement Your Word gives. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
