Heavenly Father, I come before You as I meditate on Colossians 3:2-17. I ask that You lead me to be the kind of person described in this passage. Verse 2: “Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

Direct me daily to make a conscious effort by the power of the Holy Spirit to remove evil desires and anything that leads to sin. Verse 5: “Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.” Specifically show me if there are any old ways from my life before becoming a believer in Jesus Christ that need to be repented and do not adhere to what Christ teaches.

Verse 8: “But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.” Because living according to my changed, new life in Christ is a life-long process, direct me to be constantly learning and striving to know more about Christ and obey His instructions. Verse 10: “And have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him.

Encourage me to follow Your instruction and forgive those around me, holding nothing against them. Most of all, give me the strength and wisdom to continually be putting on love. Verses 13a-14: “Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another… but above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.

Direct my life to exemplify Christ and peace at all times, wherever I go or whatever I say. Show me how to do this through Your perfect Word, the Bible. Verse 17a: “And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

I bring all of this prayer in the powerful Name of Jesus, Amen.
