Compassionate Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name I come to give You thanks for being the one I can trust with every detail of my life. You make this clear in Matthew 6:25. “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

Show me the times when I try to take things into my own hands. Forgive me for trusting more in my own intellect and ability than in You. What a foolish statement it is to say, “it is getting so complicated or difficult, I guess I better pray,” rather than praying in the beginning for wisdom and direction. Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Direct me to realize that in all situations, worry can damage my health, negatively affect my actions, consume me, and affect my relationships with others. Encourage me to have genuine concern about problems I see and move into action rather than just worry and become incapacitated.

Since I do not know what tomorrow holds, give me the ability to make plans with Your wisdom and trust You with my future. Matthew 6:34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Lord, thank you for the truth of this statement. “Faith is the victory that overcomes the world” (paraphrase of 1 John 5:4). Amen.
