Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name, thank you that at the time I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior, You placed the Holy Spirit within me. 1 Corinthians 3:16 “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” Your Word in the Bible tells me that even after I became a Christian, I still have my old nature working against my new. What a wonderful blessing it is, though, that the Holy Spirit will always overpower my old ways, if I allow Him to. Galatians 5:16 “I say then: Walk in the Spirit and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.“

Since I will always have evil and natural desires, I ask you to make me sensitive to them and direct me to practice daily committing my sinful tendencies to the Holy Spirit’s control and practice Galatians 5:24. “And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.” It is my desire to live Galatians 5:25.”If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” Therefore, thank you that I can know that I am under the control of the Holy Spirit by checking my conduct against Galatians 5:22-23a. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.” Thank you for the clear instruction on how to live a new life in Christ. Amen.
