All-powerful Heavenly Father, I come to You today to give You praise and magnify Your mighty power. Thank you for being my refuge and my fortress. It is in You that I can have peace and protection from danger. Verse 2: “I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him will I trust.’” It is a great blessing that I have no reason to fear the evil that is around me, because not one scheme of Satan can touch me when I dwell with You. Verse 1: “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”
It is significant to know that not only can I dwell in Your shadow, but that Your Word (in the Bible) also promises: “He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4b.) Since You are the only true refuge in this world for my life, direct me to depend on You alone and not look to the world for comfort. Teach me more each day how to live in the shadow of Your mercy and grace so that I can experience what You promise in verse 15 any time I am near danger. “He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.” Thank you that You have a great desire to teach me how to live righteously so that You can shower blessings on me. Amen.
