Magnificent Heavenly Father, I enter into Your presence with awe and reverence because there is no one like You in the heavens and the earth. Thank you for giving an example in this Psalm of genuine worship and praise. Verses 1 and 2Make a joyful shout to God, all the earth! Sing out the honor of His name; make His praise glorious.” Forgive me for the times my attitude is the opposite of these verses. I ask, You answer, and I receive, but often I don’t even stop to give You praise and thanks. I am quick to move on to my next need.

Direct me to always acknowledge that You are worthy of praise and thankfulness for the mighty works that You have done and are doing. Many times, I can’t even fathom Your activities, like in verses 6a and 7a. “He turned the sea into dry land… He rules by His power forever; His eyes observe the nations.” Direct me, even in my feeble knowledge of this world, to exclaim Your praises, knowing that You are greater than my fears and doubts, greater than the evil around me, and so much stronger than the forces of chaos and destruction that exist. You command the wind and the waves of the ocean. You direct the sun and the stars where to move in the sky. You know every hair on my head. There is not a single part of creation that You are not intimately familiar with and in control of.

At the end of this Psalm, You make a phenomenal point. If we do not confess and repent of our sins so we have a clean relationship with You, all our worship, prayer, and praise is of no value. Verse 18 “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear.” What a great privilege it is to worship and praise You, the mighty and perfect God.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
