All wise Heavenly Father, I come to You in the Name of Your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to thank You for the encouragement You speak to me through Your Word in these uncertain times in life and the world we live in. Direct me to pray with trust in the fact that You are everywhere and are in control of all circumstances, just as You told Joshua in Joshua in 1:9. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
It is encouraging to know that in addition to You being in control, there are many Scripture verses that emphasize that You are always good, even if there are some in the world who deny that. Nahum 1:7 “The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him.” Psalm 100:5 “For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations.”
Another attribute for me to think about is that You are just. I do not have to be concerned whether justice will be served. What You told Israel in Deuteronomy 32:4 is still true today. “He is the Rock, His work is perfect; for all His ways are justice, a God of truth and without injustice; righteous and upright is He.” No matter what happens, I can also depend on You to be faithful. 1 Corinthians 10:13a “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful.”
Sometimes, as hard as it may be, I ask You to direct me to think about these attributes when I face or hear about difficult situations:
- God is in control
- God is good
- God is just
- God is faithful
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
