In Jesus’ Name, all powerful, all knowing, everywhere present, unchanging, and merciful Heavenly Father, I thank You that I can bring all my anxieties and burdens to You to be resolved. Psalm 37:3-4Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Direct me to understand and use the instructions in Your Word (the Bible) on to how to deal with the problems and burdens that life presents. Teach me when I am weak to let go and give my situations to You, who is strong and powerful. Show me how this means letting go and letting God, which is a moment-by-moment choice that needs to be my daily lifestyle. Isaiah 41:10Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

Make me aware of any burdens that I am carrying from the past that I can do nothing about, or potential problems in the future that I am dwelling on now. These things only take away from my ability to focus on Your goodness. Give me the strength and wisdom to transfer ownership of my burdens from myself to You.  As the hymn Burdens Lifted at Calvary says, remind me to “cast Your care on Jesus today, leave your worry and fear; burdens are lifted at Calvary, Jesus is very near.

It is a great blessing in the difficult and uncertain times we are living in to know and rest in what You express in Lamentations 3:22-23. “Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

The Blessing of Hope (Certainty) in God for Believers in the Lord Jesus Christ

Encouraging Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name, with all the evil, discouraging news and hatred in the world, thank you for providing hope for me, a born-again believer in Jesus Christ. This hope has been made available because of Jesus dying on the cross and being resurrected from death. 1 Peter 1:3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

It is a blessing that You have a long-term plan for my life, regardless of what my immediate circumstances might be. With You there are no hopeless situations.  Jeremiah 29:11 “‘For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.‘”  Thank you for sharing that it is only by trusting and following the process for spiritual growth and development as laid out in Your Word, the Bible, that I can be assured of the hope You have promised for my future.

Because I am limited in my abilities and vulnerable while living in this world, it is a blessing to read Your promise in 2 Corinthians 12:9b. “‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’” Direct me away from the danger of the misplaced hopes of the world that keep me from anchoring myself in You. Continually show me that my hope is based on my relationship with You. Give me confidence in Your promise that You are working for my ultimate good in all things, especially those I don’t understand. Romans 8:28 tells me, “and we know that all things work together [illness, problems, failure, betrayal, etc.] for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose..” Strengthen my hope in You as I read Your Word, pray, believe who You say You are, and worship with fellow believers.

 In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Using Valentine’s Day 2023 as a Reminder to Praise and Thank God for His Love (Based on 1 John 4:8)

Loving Heavenly Father, I come in Jesus’ Name to acknowledge before You that love is central to who You are. In fact, 1 John 4:8 says that “He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” You have shown love to humanity many times throughout history, and to me in my own life. Thank you for the following ways You have revealed Your love to me: (list your own experiences here).

I praise and thank You for the way You love me unconditionally. When I chose to accept Jesus Christ as my personal Savior and to follow Him, I became Your child, assuring me of an eternal home in Heaven. John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.” As Your child, what Paul wrote in Romans 8:38-39 is true for me as well. “For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

This Valentine’s Day, remind me not only of Your love for me, but also that it is designed to be extended to others. All of my actions should be “rooted and grounded in love,” as Ephesians 3:17b says. Direct me to follow Your command in 1 John 4:11Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

Thank you for Your perfect love. To You be all honor, glory, and praise. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Jesus’ Teaching About Prayer (Based on Luke 11:1-4)

Heavenly Father, I come in Jesus’ Name to praise and thank You for Your Word, the Bible. You give instruction on how I can live a life that is pleasing and honoring to You. You have detailed everything that I need for my Christian walk. I am especially thankful for the teaching Your Son gives in Luke 11:1-4 on how to pray effectively. Direct me to follow the instruction that Jesus gave to His disciples to first spend some time in praise and thanksgiving before making requests. Doing this gets me into the right mindset to focus on You instead of coming to You with a shopping list of things that I need. Jesus said in verse 2: “‘When you pray, say: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.’” This teaching is confirmed in Psalm 100:4. “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise.  Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.”

Thank you for the next lesson You want me to learn. Just like the disciples, You want me to be dependent on You. The provision You have for me is daily and will not carry me through if I only communicate with You on an occasional basis. Verse 3:Give us day by day our daily bread.

Thank you for sharing, throughout the Bible, what seems to be the cornerstone of all prayer.  That key element is the importance of forgiveness in my relationship with You and with other believers.  Psalm 66:18If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear.” Since Jesus has forgiven me, direct me to be aware that I must do the same with anyone who has wronged me. Doing this will eliminate the tool of unforgiveness that Satan likes to use to tempt me with evil activities. Verse 4a: And forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.

I ask You to continually teach me to model my praying after these instructions from Your Son. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
