Heavenly Father, I come in Your Son’s Name to thank You for being all-powerful, all-knowing, everywhere present, unchanging, and merciful. I am humbled that I can bring all my anxieties and burdens to You to be resolved. Psalm 55:22Cast your burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain you; He shall never allow the righteous to be moved.

Direct me to understand and practice Your instructions in the Bible about dealing with the problems and difficulties of life. Your Word declares in 1 Peter 5:6-7, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” If I am carrying any burdens from the past which I can do nothing about, or worrying about ones that may arise in the future, show them to me and direct me to do what these verses tell me to do: give them all to Jesus.

Pause for a few moments and ask the Lord to show you anything that is taking away your peace and joy, then pray something like this:

Father, I now give to You this list of internal and external anxieties that I am carrying today: [insert your list here]. Thank you for the promises and encouragement in the following song:

All Your Anxiety by Lieutenant Colonel E.H. Joy

Is there a heart bound by sorrow?

Is there a life weighted down by care?

Come to the Cross each burden bearing, all your anxiety, leave it there.

All your anxiety all your care, bring to the Mercy Seat, leave it there.

Never a burden He cannot bear, never a friend like Jesus.

I bring this prayer in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Prayer About God’s Empowerment

All-powerful Heavenly Father, I come to You in Your Son’s Name to thank You for Your promise that I don’t ever have to live alone in the flesh. Instead, You will give me strength through the Holy Spirit if I solely trust in You. Your Word tells me in Galatians 5:25, “if we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Although I live in this world of strife, dissension, and chaos, which works hard to take away my joy and peace, You have provided a pathway to perfect peace in Isaiah 26:3. “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”

It is encouraging to be able to trust in the truth that You bring out in Jeremiah 32:17.Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You.” You are not limited the way we, Your children, are.

Father, I humbly come before You, recognizing that in my own strength I have nothing to offer You, but because of You living within me through the Holy Spirit, You are proud of me and want to make something of my life. I ask You to direct my life in such a way that it will be said of me like it was of King Hezekiah in 2 Chronicles 29:2aand he did what was right in the sight of the LORD.”

Thank you that I can bring these thoughts to You in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Prayer About God’s Gift of Fellowship for Believers in Jesus Christ (Based on Hebrews 10:25)

Author: Elton Streyle, Contributor: Noah, Photography and Editing: Ali

Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name, thank you for the teaching in Your Word, the Bible, about the value of fellowshipping with other believers. Hebrews 10:25Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.” Forgive me when I think that social media can replace face to face encouragement and correction. Encourage me to realize that I need other believers in my life, especially to grow in my faith. It is only through fellowship that I can reap the benefits of seeing what You are doing in the lives of Your children.

Direct me to be watchful for myself, loved ones, and others about Peter’s warning that Satan is like as a roaring lion. A lion looking for food searches for the animal in the herd that is weak and isolated. 1 Peter 5:8Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

I ask that You show me how to develop the joy of harmonious relationships with other believers that David expressed in Psalm 133:1Behold, how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” This kind of fellowship demonstrates a foretaste of heaven and is a positive example to those that still need to develop a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. It is a blessing that if I have inward unity of purpose with a person or group, it will manifest itself in many places and different ways.

Thank you for what Paul tells me in 1 Corinthians 1:9, that as important as my relationship with other believers is, my ultimate fellowship still needs to be with Jesus. “God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

God’s Faithfulness to His Word

Heavenly Father, I come to You in Jesus’ Name to thank You for being faithful in all the promises that You express to me in Your Word. You never abandon me or break any of Your promises. Psalm 18:30 As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tested; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.

Forgive me for the times I have had the tendency to go back to being self-reliant instead of fully trusting in You. Remind me that when I am facing any temptation or crisis in my life, I can rely on Your Word. 1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

Enable me to see and understand the big picture You have laid out in Your Scriptures about Your faithfulness. Direct me to have complete confidence and rest in Your Word so that I can trust You with everything in my life and experience Your peace that passes all understanding. “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6

Thank you that I can come to You no matter what situation I am in. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

God, the Leader Over All Situations

All-wise Heavenly Father, I come in Jesus’ Name to thank You for the encouragement You give in Your Word for the times when I forget that You are in control of my past, present, and future. You have designed all situations to prosper me even before they happen. “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not evil, to give you a future and a hopeJeremiah 29:11.

Forgive me for the times I have been foolish by not giving control to You, the life-giver and master of my destiny, and for the times I have not looked to You for sustenance and guidance. You know me and my situation better than I ever could. You told Jeremiah in Jeremiah 1:5, “‘before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.’” I know the same principles hold true in my life: before I existed, You knew me and had a plan for me.

I ask You to take control of my life, and the lives of my family, friends, and other Christians. I pray Paul’s prayer in Colossians 1:9-12 for all of the people just mentioned. “For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.”

Thank you that I can come to You in Jesus’ Name and ask You to take hold of every facet of my life, transforming me to be more like Christ. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Prayer About Looking Back for Encouragement to Go Forward

Heavenly Father, I come in Jesus’ Name to thank You for the privilege of being able to look back in my life and see Your faithfulness in both the good and difficult times. Lamentations 3:22-23 “Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.

Direct me to recall Your goodness and recognize Your hand at work in all seasons of my life. Develop in me the attitude and belief that You would not have brought me this far in life only for You to become suddenly uninterested in my future. Numbers 23:19 God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind.” (ESV)

Thank you for the assurance about my future found in Psalm 23:6. “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever.” Give me the courage and strength to live from the belief that when the challenges and setbacks of life arise, You will guide and lead me all the way through to the other side.

Since my responsibility is to call upon You and then trust and yield to Your leading, I ask that You direct my life to exemplify Proverbs 3:5-6. “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

Thank you for allowing me to bring this prayer in Jesus’ precious Name. Amen.

Relying on God’s Wisdom

All-Wise Heavenly Father, I come to You in Jesus’ Name, thankful that I can call upon You for Your unlimited wisdom and instruction when it comes to the way I should live my life. Your Word has all the answers I need, for every decision I have to make. It shows me how to avoid foolishness and ruin. Proverbs 2:1-3 My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands. Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding.” (NLT)

I confess and ask for forgiveness for the times when I have acted on my own before inquiring for wisdom from You and Your Word. Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.” I repent of my tendency to blame You when things don’t turn out the way I think they should, especially when I have not followed Your directions for my life.

Direct me to increase my ability to live by Your wisdom and be filled with Your Spirit of Wisdom so that I can discern and follow Your will. Let my mouth speak Your wisdom out of an overflow of the righteousness You have instilled in me. Psalm 141:3 Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips.” Matthew 12:34c For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

Thank you for sending Your Son to demonstrate Your power and wisdom to me, and for sending Your Holy Spirit to live within me so that I will never be in a place where You are unable to help me. Allow me to experience all that You say in Your Word about wisdom so that Proverbs 3:13 is a reality in my life. “Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding.”

I bring these praises and requests to You, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Contentment in the Lord

Heavenly Father, I come to You in Jesus’ Name to thank You for being my Shepherd, and for all that entails in my relationship with You. Psalm 23:1The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

Forgive me for the times when I struggle with being content and find myself wanting more than You have seen fit to give me at that time. You have promised to provide all that I need for a life of godliness, praise, and worship towards You. Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Direct me to be content with You alone, and not be tempted to look for contentment in the things of this world, which lose their worth in the face of eternity.

Give me a good understanding of the teaching in Your Word that my happiness is not based on my circumstances in life. Rather, real contentment and joy comes from knowing Jesus more and more. Like the Apostle Paul, show me how to be accepting of where I am at in my life. Philippians 4:11Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content.

Shift my focus from the things of this world to Jesus, Your ultimate Gift, realizing that all true contentment comes from Him. Philippians 4:19And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” I bring these thoughts in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

God’s Power

Heavenly Father, I come to You in Jesus’ Name to praise You for being all-powerful, all-knowing, ever-present, and unchanging. Jeremiah 32:17 ‘Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You.’

I thank You for loving me and wanting a close personal relationship with me, even though Your power far surpasses my own. Mark 10:27 “…Jesus… looked at them and said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.”‘ I praise You for the way exercise Your power, not as an evil dictator, but as a loving Father who desires good for His children. Matthew 7:11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

Help me to be steadfast in faith and on high alert to resist the work of Satan as he tries everything possible to hinder and destroy me as Your child. 1 Peter 5:7-8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” Direct me to rely on Your power, not my own, to resist the attacks of the devil and live a life that honors You.

I cast all of my burdens and cares upon You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Prayer About Living in God’s Presence

through-the-looking-glass

Author: Elton Streyle, Contributor: Noah, Photography and Editing: Ali

Lord, I come in Jesus’ Name to thank You for the peace and comfort it gives me to know that You are everywhere present and that You see every situation in my life. Even the events in my life that I do not understand are not a surprise to You. Proverbs 15:3The eyes of the LORD are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.

May I be conscious at all times of the fact that I am living in Your presence. Encourage me to have a growing desire to live in a way that is pleasing to You. When the challenges of life come, direct me to get my focus off of my problems and onto Jesus. Colossians 3:2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

As I invite You, Jesus, to be my defender and counselor, show me how, though You may not immediately calm the storms in my life, You are always willing to calm me as Your child in the midst of the storm. Isaiah 43:2-3a tells me, “when you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior…

I bring these praises and requests to You in Jesus’ precious Name, Amen.
