Lord, I come in Jesus’ Name to thank You for the hope, joy and light that the Christmas season brings. I praise You for the blessing of Your Son Jesus and for the time that is set aside to celebrate His birth and coming to earth. Luke 2:11 “For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”
What amazing love You showed when You sent Your only begotten Son to be humbled in the form of a helpless baby. A few years later, You again showed Your love for me when Jesus died on the cross carrying all my sin. This provided a way of salvation (by believing and accepting Jesus in my life) for me to be with You in heaven forever after leaving this earth. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Direct me to make the celebration of Your tremendous love for me the center of this holiday season. Show me how to block out all the distractions and sometimes, chaos, that can accompany this time of the year so that I can focus on Jesus, the true meaning of Christmas. I ask that by the time the festivities stop, I will be rejuvenated and refocused on Christ my Savior. Encourage me throughout the next year to often meditate and rejoice on the words of this Christmas carol:
Joy to The World
Joy to the world! The Lord is come; let earth receive her King. Let every heart prepare Him room, and heaven and nature sing, and heaven and nature sing, and heaven, and heaven, and nature sing.
Thank you for allowing me to experience the great joy of Christmas. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
