Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name I come to thank You that in 1776 You put it on the hearts and minds of 56 men from 13 colonies to sign the Declaration of Independence for our freedom. We have been able to celebrate this event ever since that day. History tells us that many of these men were believers in You. I ask that You forgive us as a nation and as individuals for ignoring or just forgetting about all of the blood shed for our freedom.
It is because You have blessed us as a nation (Psalm 33:12aBlessed is the nation whose God is the LORD.“) that I have the privilege of experiencing the greatest liberty of all.
That liberty is the blessing of being able to be free from sin and eternal death in hell. You provided this for me through Jesus Christ. John 8:36 “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
In spite of all the chaos, ungodly activity, and false teaching about our godly heritage, I ask that You draw the next generation to Yourself through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  This will help them defend and keep freedom for their future.
Before I start celebrating the 4th with good food, family, friends, and all kinds of entertainment and fireworks, remind me to stop and think about what I am actually celebrating: living in a free nation and being able to worship You as my Creator, Savior, and Lord.
In Jesus’ Name, direct me to follow the admonition in Galatians 5:1Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.” Amen.
