All wise Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name, I come to You in light of Jesus dying on the cross and His resurrection. I acknowledge my need for complete dependence on You. You are the source of all that is good, true, and right. All wisdom and understanding comes from You as well. Verse 6-7 For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly.

I ask that You lead me in Your Word to where wisdom is found for daily direction for living and comfort. Give me a heart and a desire for the spiritual milk of Your Word to mature in Godliness. 1 Peter 2:2As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby.” Thank you that with Your wisdom, I can develop the ability to discern right from wrong and evil motives from others. Verse 10-11-12aWhen wisdom enters your heart, and knowledge is pleasant to your soul, discretion will preserve you; understanding will keep you, to deliver you from the way of evil.

It is a great blessing and gift from You that I do not have to look at life from a worldly view, but rather through a lens of the true wisdom and understanding found in Your Word, the Bible. Remind me often about how great a desire You have for all people to have the wisdom expressed in this chapter of Proverbs and that it is my obligation to do all that I can to share Your Gospel so that others can have it also. Verse 21-22a For the upright will dwell in the land, and the blameless will remain in it; but the wicked will be cut off from the earth.” Thank you for the wisdom in this chapter of Proverbs. Amen.

Prayer About the Spirit of Honor

Heavenly Father, I come to You through the Name of Jesus my Savior to bring You praise and honor. You are worthy of all the praise I have, and deserve nothing less. Psalm 150:6aLet everything that has breath praise the LORD.

One of the ways You want me to show honor to You is by honoring and respecting those You have put in authority over me (church, family, police, government, etc.). Romans 13:1-2aLet every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore, whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God.

You have put many verses in Your Word (the Bible) about how I am to respect the authority of people over me and that it is for my own good. Even if I do not necessarily like or agree with the person, I still need to honor the office the person holds. Therefore, I ask that You direct me to have a spirit of honor and respect for all those who are in authority over me.

Let my love for You overcome my negative feelings toward any kind of authority. Instead, encourage me to pray for them to be the kind of leader you want them to be. Show me how to extend this respect and honor not just to those in authority, but to everyone I associate with. 1 Peter 5:5b “Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

In Jesus’ Name, thank you for all these instructions. Amen.

Prayer About Valentine’s Day as a Reminder of God’s Love

Author: Elton Streyle, Contributor: Noah, Photography and Editing: Ali

Loving Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name, thank you for the reminder this Valentine’s season gives about love. In spite of the joy of seeing so much around us about love made up of cards, flowers, teddy bears, and candy, it does not come close to the genuine, lasting love You have for us.

Your Word, the Bible, has many expressions about how much You love Your children. The ultimate expression is found in John 3:16. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

So many times, my love is conditional. How great it is that Your love is unconditional. It is not based on who I am or what I say or do. I could not earn Your love no matter how hard I tried. It is wonderful that Your love is based on Your unfailing character. Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

It is Your love for me, and the Holy Spirit dwelling in me, which allows me to have the privilege of loving others with a genuine love as expressed in John 13:34. “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.”

Thank you for the many Scripture passages in the Bible like 1 Corinthians 13 that give direction on what Christ’s love through me can and should look like. You point out in the Bible that there are many spiritual gifts, but love is one that we all have and should demonstrate.

As I go out in the world and see many different expressions of love, direct me to always put far more focus on Your love.

In Jesus’ Name, thank you for the powerful message in this little chorus: “Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so.” Amen.

God’s Love is Always Near

Going Forward with Christ

Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name, direct me as a believer in Jesus Christ to practice what Paul did in Philippians 3:13. “Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead.

Putting Off the Old

Lord, in Your Son’s Name, direct me to accomplish Colossians 3:8-9. “But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Thank you for the promise, encouragement, and comfort in these verses. I want to trust completely in You because my knowledge, understanding, and emotions can be very unpredictable. Direct me to make decisions based not only on my own intellect, but on the wisdom You provide in Your Word, the Bible. You are a far better judge and know what is best in every choice I have to make. It is a great blessing that I can bring all my decisions to You in prayer, use the Bible as my guide, and then follow Your leading.

Thank you that Jesus confirmed in Mathew 6:33 all that Solomon said I need to do to receive Your guidance. “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” I praise You that as a believer in Jesus Christ, I have the Holy Spirit dwelling within me, and because of that I can actively choose to give You first place in every area of my life. I invite You to accomplish Your purpose for me. Amen.
