Heavenly Father, I come to You in Jesus’ Name to thank You for my mother (if she is deceased, I honor her memory). I appreciate the way she has cared for me and revealed some of Your character to me through her unconditional love. 1 Corinthians 13:13 “And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” Thank you for the way You designed children’s relationships with their parents to reflect my relationship to You, my creator. Show me how I can honor my mother on this day, and every day.
I ask if there is someone who does not have a good relationship with their mother, that You would intervene and bring forgiveness, healing, and restoration. Remind them that the ultimate measure of their worth comes from You, not their parents’ perception of them. Direct them to love their mother the way You love them, even if that love is not reciprocated.
For future mothers, give them a heart that loves You and a desire to raise children who will follow You. Remind them of the importance of the life they carry inside of them. Jeremiah 1:5a-b “‘Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you.“‘ Equip them and prepare them to be a strong example of faith for their children and leave behind a legacy of godliness.
Remind all mothers of what Theodore Roosevelt said: “praying mothers are a country’s greatest blessing.”
In Jesus’ Name, I express my gratitude to You for the way You have used my mother in my life. Amen.
