Heavenly Father, I come to You through the Name of Jesus Christ my Savior. It is His dying on the cross for me and His gift of salvation that allows me to call upon You and come to Your throne of grace. I want to acknowledge that there is always an impact from my actions on those around me. Forgive me when sometimes I get so caught up in my own life that I forget about the influence (good or bad) that I leave on others. Your Word (the Bible) makes this clear in Romans 14:7-8. “For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself. For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s.“
Direct me to follow Your command to leave a positive, uplifting, and God-glorifying impact on those I interact with. As Jesus taught in the Sermon on the Mount, and as Paul urged Titus to be a good example, show me how live out these two scriptures. Mathew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Titus 2:7-8a “In all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, sound speech that cannot be condemned.“
Recognizing that somebody (sons, daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends, etc.) is always watching and being influenced by my actions, good or bad, I ask that You shape my heart desires and activities correctly, like only You can. It is You that has the wisdom and power to orient my affections from myself to You and Your purposes. Direct me to influence others to desire Your unmerited mercy and saving grace.
In Jesus’ Name, thank you for this wonderful instruction. Amen.
