Loving Heavenly Father, I come to You in Jesus’ Name to thank You for my mother. If she is deceased, thank you for the memory of her. If she is or was a Godly woman, I express my gratitude to You for the way You directed her to guide me closer to You. If she is or was not a believer, I ask that Your Spirit allow me to see how You are still using her to develop my relationship with You.
I praise You for the way You have designed mothers to reflect Your love to their children. Isaiah 66:13a-b “As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you.” Thank you for the following ways my mother has been a conduit for Your love in my life: [insert you own experiences here].
For all of the mothers and mother-figures in my life, I ask that You empower them to cultivate devoted Christ-followers in the next generation, like Timothy’s mother and grandmother did. 2 Timothy 1:4c-5 “That I may be filled with joy, when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also.“
Lord, thank you that whether I have a strong or struggling relationship with my mother, Your love for me is so much greater than hers could ever be. Isaiah 49:15 “Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you.” I ask that You encourage and draw all mothers that I am acquainted with, young and old, into a close relationship with You.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
