All wise Heavenly Father, I come in Jesus’ Name to thank You for the wisdom You express in Your Word (the Bible) as to how I can be spiritually minded instead of carnally minded. Thank you for giving Your only begotten Son to die on the cross to make new life possible for me. It is a blessing that You desire for me to be spiritually minded and to have a life filled with Your peace. Romans 8:6 “For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.“
Thank you for making it clear in Your Word that not only do You not want me to go along with the outward customs and behaviors of the evils of this world, but You also do not want me to engage in negative attitudes like pride, selfishness, arrogance, etc. Romans 12:2 “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.“
Direct me to let the power of Your Word redirect my thinking so that I can see everything with a clear mind and from a biblical perspective. Show me how not to be influenced by the evil cultural viewpoints of the society that I live in. Since what I put in my mind determines what comes out in my words and actions, direct me to be very sensitive to the kind of materials that I read in books and on social media, what I listen to, and what I watch in movies and on television. Encourage me to read Your Word so that it becomes the main thing filling my mind.
Thank you for Paul’s admonishment in Philippians 4:8 about how I can get my mind focused on what is good and pure. “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy – meditate on these things.“
I surrender my mind to You to be transformed, renewed, and directed by the Holy Spirit dwelling within me. Amen.
