Prayer Pertaining to the Bible’s Teaching About Seeking God

Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name, thank you for the many Scripture verses in the Bible that teach and encourage me to seek You. It is a blessing that just like in Jeremiah’s day, You have made Yourself completely available to us who have accepted Your Son Jesus Christ as our Savior. Jeremiah 29:12-13Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

Forgive me for the times when I have had situations where I didn’t follow the instructions You have given, such as seeking You first by filling my mind with Your thoughts and desires, following Your ways to serve and obey You in everything, or doing what You direct in Mathew 6:33. “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

I ask that You teach me how to be more effective in seeking You in my times of worship through music and thanksgiving. May my times of singing praises and giving thanks be a genuine love experience with You, not just some words. Direct me to continually be growing in persistence in seeking You in my prayer life, and please strengthen my faith when it comes to asking for more knowledge, wisdom, love, and understanding. Show me how to more fully practice Mathew 7:7. Jesus said: “‘Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.’

Thank you for inviting and encouraging me to seek out everything about You and Your Word. Amen.
