Heavenly Father, I come before You through the saving Name of Your Son Jesus to bring You thanks, praise, and reverence for Your overflowing kindness to me. Psalm 100:4a “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.” What an amazing truth that in myself I am nothing, but in You I can find purpose in life.

Long before the world was even made, You chose me to be holy in Your eyes. 1 Peter 1:16 “Because it is written, “be holy, for I am holy.‘” In spite of my sin, shame, and hard heart, You have given me a way to be reconciled to You and to be part of Your family as a son or daughter of the King through Jesus’ saving work on the cross. Your kindness to me is far deeper and stronger than I could ever fathom.

It is an awesome blessing that because I have an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ, I can enjoy the benefits of salvation, the gifts of the Spirit, the power to do God’s will, and the assurance of living forever in heaven with Christ. Ephesians 1:3 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.”

Father, I am forever grateful and indebted to You for giving me, through Your kindness, a Kingly inheritance, eternal bliss, and a blessed life with You. I ask that You direct my response to Your kindness to be nothing short of complete devotion and sacrifice to You and Your will now and forever. You deserve nothing less than everything I have.

In Jesus’ precious Name, Amen.

Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name, thank you for Your willingness to forgive my sin and for directing the act of repentance. It is a great blessing that You are always ready to forgive me. 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

It is important for believers in Jesus Christ ​who receive God’s forgiveness to repent (change). One way to do this is to ask the Holy Spirit to make a mental picture of a screen to be put in the front of the mind, where all negative or evil thoughts about possible sin will be stopped from going any further. 2 Corinthians 10:5 “Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”

Any thoughts of this kind can immediately be filtered out by the screen. The screen is made up of the power of the Word of God, the cross, and the blood and light of Christ.

God’s Word: Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

Cross: Galatians 2:20a “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.”

Christ’s Blood: Ephesians 1:7 “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.”

Christ’s Light: John 8:12 Jesus said, ‘”I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

When the thought or temptation is stopped, give thanks and sing a song of praise, such as Father I Adore You, the Doxology, etc. Proverbs 23:7a “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.“

In Jesus Name, thank you for making available these powerful tools to stop the destructiveness of the enemy. Amen.

Compassionate Heavenly Father, I come in Jesus’ Name this Easter season to thank You for allowing Your Son to die on the cruel cross so that I, a hopeless sinner, can have a completely new life and ultimately a home in Heaven by accepting Your offer of salvation. You express in Your Word, the Bible, that the joy of Heaven is for real, and the suffering in Hell is not anything to joke about.

How comforting it is that I can kneel at the cross and worship You for taking care of all of my sins of the past, present, and future. You have the power to lead me to any kind of help that I need. In Isaiah 53:5, Isaiah looked ahead to the future suffering of the Messiah. “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.”

Jesus, it is such a blessing to know that as I live this life here on earth, You are the light of the world. Just as God led the people of Israel through the wilderness with the light from the pillar of fire, You are now the light of the world for me as a believer in You. You bring God’s presence, protection, and guidance into every situation.

Just like a flashlight when going down a dark road, You give enough light for every step I am on. Direct me to be willing to allow You to shine in and through me so that I will not stumble in darkness.

We ask that you will lead all of our government leaders and medical scientists to walk in Your light as they work on solving the medical crisis we are in. Provide protection and comfort for all those, and their families, who are working tirelessly on the front lines to help as many people as possible.

In John 8:12b Jesus said: “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” You are worthy Lord. Worthy to be thanked, praised, worshiped, and adored. Amen.

Thought Life Controlled by God

All-knowing Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name I ask You to guide and control my thought life. 2 Corinthians 10:5 “Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”

Confidence in God’s Sovereignty

Sovereign Lord, I ask in Jesus’ Name that You direct me to have the same confidence in Your sovereignty as Job did in Job 42:1-2. “Then Job answered the LORD and said: “I know that You can do everything, and that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You.‘”

Reconciliation Through Jesus

Trustworthy Heavenly Father, I come in Your Son’s Name to thank You for the peace and comfort I can have by calling on You and yielding my life to You. John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

In light of the fact that You tell me in Your Word (the Bible) that the enemy is looking to destroy anyone and anything He can (1 Peter 5:8c “Your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour“), lead and direct me to walk close to You. My flesh is weak and undependable. I ask to be filled and controlled daily by Your Holy Spirit. Galatians 5:25 “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”

May I have every thought and desire be directed by You. Your Word (the Bible) has much to say about how in You alone can I find rest from my burdens. Teach me to draw near to You and Your purposes for my daily life.

It is my desire that You direct me in such a way that I experience and enjoy Matthew 11:28-30. “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” With an open, yielding heart I bring this prayer to You through the Name of Jesus. Amen.

God’s Call to Holiness

Lord, I come to You in Jesus’ Name to ask You to direct me to be obedient to 1 Peter 1:15-16. “But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “be holy, for I am holy.’”

God’s Perfect Wisdom

Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name I thank You that as a believer in Jesus Christ I have access to Your perfect wisdom. James 3:17 “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.”

Denying Ungodly Living

Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name, direct me to be obedient to Your instructions for Godly living found in Titus 2:12. “Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age.”

Walking in the Spirit

Heavenly Father, I come in Jesus’ Name to ask You to continually develop Galatians 5:22-23 in my life. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.”

God’s Requirement for His People

Lord, in Jesus’ Name, direct me to be obedient to the instruction in Micah 6:8. “He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?”

Controlling Our Words

Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name I ask You to do for me Psalm 141:3. “Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips.”

Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name, I thank You for creating me to function best by living in community with others. Direct me how to best accomplish living in oneness in a world that is filled with disunity. I appreciate the apostle Paul’s advice in 1 Corinthians 1:10. “Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.”

It is a privilege to have You put people around me and into my life to shape, mold, test, and encourage me. I appreciate that with the direction of the Holy Spirit, I am able to participate in the wonderful gift of Godly community. Lead me to ask for forgiveness when I complain about the minor inconveniences or things I don’t like about others. Direct me to constantly be willing to practice Colossians 3:13-14a. “Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love.”

I know that I can’t achieve the types of relationships You describe in Your Word without Your love and guidance. Give me the strength and perseverance to build strong relationships of unity, and not division. I want to receive what David describes in Psalm 133:1. “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!”

Prayer by Using the Sword of the Spirit

All wise and powerful Heavenly Father, I come in the Name of Jesus to thank You for the blessing of the Sword of the Spirt (Your Word, the Bible). Ephesians 6:17 “And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

What an incredible, powerful gift You have given me to defend myself from the attacks of the evil one. Just like Jesus used the Scriptures to refute the devil’s lies and twisted truth in the wilderness, teach me to quote and obey Bible verses as an important tool in resisting his attacks. Jesus said in Mathew 4:4, “it is written, ‘man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'”

It is a wonderful blessing, and I praise You for it, that Your Word brings truth into my life. That I can trust it as a firm foundation on which to build my life. Every word in the Bible is inspired by You, and is trustworthy and profitable for instruction in righteousness. 2 Timothy 3:16 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”

Thank you for all that You have shared about how Your Word is a protection against false teaching and a guide to how I should live. In light of all Your advice, direct me to store up Your Word in my mind and heart and hide Your truth in the depths of my soul. I come with a grateful heart for the wisdom in Your Scriptures. Amen.

Prayer for Strengthening a Believer’s Faith in Christ by Looking at God’s Historical Evidence in the Bible

All powerful and wise Heavenly Father, I come in Jesus’ Name thankful for and remembering the extraordinary events recorded in Your Word (the Bible). Romans 15:4 “For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.” It is a great blessing to know that I can read Your Book (the Bible) and know that the God who created the whole world and everything in it, including me, is still the same God. Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”

Thank you for the following examples:
1. In times when I need faith like Noah did building the Ark, direct me to read Genesis 6.

2. In the times when I need deliverance like Daniel did in the lions’ den, to read Daniel 6.

3. When I need encouragement to overcome difficult situations like Moses crossing the Red Sea, to read Exodus 14.

4. If I am having a problem with sin like David did with Bathsheba, to read Psalm 51.

As I read these stories and many others in the Bible, I thank You for Your consistent nature of love, goodness, patience, power, wisdom, mercy and grace. Psalm 145:3 “Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable.” It is awesome that You, the God who is involved in all these stories, is the same God who is living within me through the Holy Spirit simply because of my accepting the free gift of Your Son Jesus Christ as my Savior. Reading about all of Your past actions encourages me to live life now, and in the future, with confidence ​instead of fear.

Prayer About the Work of the Indwelling Holy Spirit

Heavenly Father, I come to You through the Name of my Savior Jesus Christ with a thankful heart for You having the Holy Spirt of God dwell within me. This blessing happened at the time I put my faith in Jesus as my Savior. 1 Corinthians 6:19 “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?”

I acknowledge my dependence on You and that apart from You, there is nothing good. You are the source of all righteousness. 2 Corinthians 3:5 “Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God.” Teach me to let go of my own strength and to recognize that You want to be my comforter and guide me into all truth through the Holy Spirit. By obeying You and Your guidance, I can thwart the constant negative power of the flesh ​that is still living within me.

It is a beautiful privilege to have Your Holy Spirit lift me up in my times of weakness and distress. In those times when I can’t find the right words to say, I can share my heart with You and You will intercede and straighten out my prayer. Romans 8:26 “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”

In Jesus’ Name, I ask You to daily direct me to yield myself to the Holy Spirit for full control over all parts of my life. Ephesians 5:18b “Be filled with the Spirit.” Amen.
