Prayer About Six Major Parts of the Body Part 2

The first part of this prayer was posted on October 27, 2017. If you would like to read it, click here. Meditate on one section per day.

Mouth

Heavenly Father, knowing that the average person opens his mouth approximately 700 times a day to speak, I ask that You guard what I say so that my words will bring honor and glory to Your Name. Make Psalm 141:3 a reality for me. “Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips.” (Psalm 39:1, Psalm 8:2, Proverbs 26:28)

Hands

Direct my hands to be used in whatever way You want to work in developing Your kingdom as I help others with their needs where I can. “And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands for us; yes, establish the work of our handsPsalm 90:17. (1 Thessalonians 4:11, 1 Samuel 23:16, Zephaniah 3:16).

Feet

As I walk through this life, shine the light of Christ in front of me one step at a time, just like walking through a forest with a flashlight. Give me discernment about where I should walk. “Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my pathPsalm 119:105. (Isaiah 52:7, Luke 1:79, Psalm 18:36)

Remind me often to give praise and thanks to You for the degree to which all these parts of my body function correctly physically and spiritually.

I bring this prayer in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Prayer About 6 Major Parts of the Body: Part 1

This prayer exercise is designed to highlight the function of some of our major body parts in our spiritual development. In addition to what is written, look up the extra Scriptures and meditate on them. Meditate on one section per day.

Mind

Lord, thank you for allowing me to have the Scriptures to direct me in how to develop a Christ-like mind. Develop in me the ability to be constantly renewing my mind spiritually. “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of GodRomans 12:2. (Romans 12:16, Isaiah 26:3, 2 Timothy 1:7, Philippians 2:5)

Eyes

Direct my eyes to constantly be turned away from the evil of this world. May my focus always be on the good things of God. “I will set nothing wicked before my eyes; I hate the work of those who fall away; it shall not cling to mePsalm 101:3. (Psalm 32:8, Psalm 119:37, Psalm 121:1, Matthew 18:9)

Ears

Open my ears to hear clearly what You are telling me from Your Word and Spirit. Give me discernment when listening to others to tell if their speech is in accordance with Your Biblical principles. “The heart of the prudent acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledgeProverbs 18:15. (1 Corinthians 2:9, Revelations 2:7, Exodus 10: 2, Jeremiah 19:3)

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Heavenly Father, thank you for the many verses of Scripture in the Bible that encourage me to praise You, not for Your good, but for mine. I was created to praise You. “This people I have formed for Myself; they shall declare My praiseIsaiah 43:21.

Give me a correct perspective of thanksgiving and praise. Let me not get so caught up in thanksgiving for all the amazing things You have done and are doing for me that I neglect to praise You for who You are (the Creator, the Almighty, all-knowing, ever-present, merciful, loving, and unchanging God).

Forgive me for the times when I live my life in a spiritually powerless way; when I plead for victory in Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit as though You were far away instead of living in the confidence that Your Holy Spirit is dwelling within me, waiting to come alongside me.

Remind me often that You are my sufficiency every moment of every day. Jesus said: “…I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirstJohn 6:35.

Father, direct me in such a way that Hebrews 13:15 will continually be a reality in my life. “Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.” Lord, I am grateful for the delight and privilege of praising You.

I bring these thoughts in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Truth in the Christian Life

Father, thank you for the freedom I receive from trusting in the truth of Your Word and that all of the armor You lay out  in Ephesians 6:10-17 for fighting the battle Satan wages against believers is held up by the belt of truth.

You are the Truth that sets me free from the consequences of sin and self-deception. In John 8:31-32, Jesus said “…If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Direct me to always accept the accuracy of the Scriptures so that I can be filled with Your truth. While I go through the different seasons of life, give me wisdom and protection from the truth in Your Word for the season that I am in at this time.  Encourage me in believing that “…His truth shall be your shield and bucklerPsalm 91:4.

Your Word teaches that You want complete truth to flow out of my life. Have Your Spirit living within me. Make me sensitive to anything that does not reflect Your truth. Give me the grace to live out Ephesians 4:30-31. “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.”

Father, thank you for listening to my requests. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

All-Wise Heavenly Father, thank you that I can call upon You for Your unlimited wisdom and instruction when it comes to the way I should live my life. In Your Word are all the answers needed for every decision I have to make and it shows me how to avoid foolishness and ruin.

My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands. Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding.” Proverbs 2:1-3 (NLT)

I confess to You and ask for forgiveness for the times when I have acted on my own before inquiring for wisdom from You and Your Word and for when I blamed You when things didn’t turn out the way that I thought they should.

Direct me to increase my determination to live by Your Wisdom and be filled with Your Spirit of Wisdom so that I can discern Your will. Let my mouth speak Your Wisdom due to the righteousness You have instilled in me. “Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips.Psalm 141:3

Thank you for sending Your Son to represent Your power and wisdom to me so that I will never be in a place where You are unable to help me.

Allow me to experience all that You say in Your Word about wisdom so that Proverbs 3:13 is a reality in my life. “Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding.”

I bring these praises and requests to You, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Grandparent’s Day Prayer (Sun. 9/10)

Heavenly Father, thank you for the joy received from grandparents. For some of us, that blessing is just a  good memory. For others, it is an experience now being enjoyed.

Direct me to be kind to and appreciate all seniors and grandparents, especially those who demonstrate and live Psalm 71:5. “For you are my hope, O Lord GOD; You are my trust from my youth.”

As an older person and/or a grandparent, show me how I can be a good example to my grandchildren and the younger generation. May the consistency of Your faithful grace to me be an encouragement to them as they look ahead to their future. “My grace is sufficient for you…2 Corinthians 12:9.

As I face the last season of life, direct me to recognize that You have been my constant help in the past and that I need You now more than ever. Thank you that Proverbs 3:5-6 applies in all seasons of life. “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

Show me how my service for You may have to change because of age. Remind me that some of the most influential and powerful Christians serving God in history have been older people with physical limitations. They shared their Godly experiences of the past with the young and used intercessory prayer to bring inexperienced youth to the throne of grace.

Make Psalm 71:18 true of me. “Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, do not forsake me, until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come.”

I bring this prayer in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Heavenly Father, I praise You for:

Blessing me with salvation and drawing me to Heaven and off the road of destruction which would have led to an eternal hell. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.John 3:16

Promising to supply all of my needs in the present and in the future until my entrance into eternity in Heaven. “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.Philippians 4:19

Knowing I am a child of Yours and I can draw from Your wisdom, which You give me generously, without finding fault with me. You have no limit to how many times I can come to You for help in finding what to do and what not to do in any situation. “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5

Father, I am so grateful for the wonderful opportunities You give me to become more spiritually mature, to love You more deeply, and to serve others. Thank you for the comfort of Your awesome promise in Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

Thank you for providing me with blessings and power through the practice of praise and for the positive effect that it has in my daily life.

I bring these praises to You, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Heavenly Father, in the midst of the excitement of the total solar eclipse in the United States, remind us to contemplate the meaning of Psalm 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiworkand Colossians 1:16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers.
