Compassionate Heavenly Father, I come to You through the Name of Jesus to thank You for the saving work Your Son did on the cross. Through His spilled blood and torn flesh, I have had the opportunity to be brought into a new life not needing to be controlled by sin. Romans 5:10For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.

I ask that You give me the perspective to see my eternal worth through Your eyes and the lens of redemption, not of shame. Allow me to not only realize this, but also to act on it and live accordingly. Romans 5:9Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

Teach me to evaluate the things that I do and say through an eternal perspective. Give me the wisdom and strength to remove that which is not edifying and increase that which is of eternal significance. Mold my priorities and interests to Your will and bring me closer to You each day. Show me how to best minister to those around me.

I am blessed that I can find my hope in You, a hope that does not disappoint. Romans 5:5Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

In Jesus’ Name, thank you for Your many attributes (all knowing, ever present, unchanging, merciful, almighty, etc.) that are enough to handle any situation in my life. Amen.

Heavenly Father, I come to You in Jesus’ Name this Thanksgiving to thank You for giving us Your Son and allowing Him to die on the cross for our sins. You resurrected Him from death and left Your Spirit with us until all You have planned for here on earth is done.

It is a blessing beyond description to be a child of Yours and have the Holy Spirit dwelling within me. If I allow it, You will direct all phases of my life. As I live in this chaotic world and deal with many personal problems, I thank You for the invitation expressed in Mathew 11:28-29. “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Monday: Thank you for the wonder and beauty of Your creation. Psalm 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament shows His handiwork.

Lord, in Jesus’ Name, guide me to be a thankful person every day as a lifestyle, not only on Thanksgiving Day. Amen.

Prayer for Anger Control by Using God’s Counsel

All wise and compassionate Heavenly Father, thank you for the many Bible verses that instruct on how to handle the very strong emotion of anger. As the old saying goes, “anger is only one letter away from danger.” I appreciate that You make it clear in Your Word that there is only one kind of anger that is acceptable; that is anger against the evil one and His ways. All other anger should be taken care of immediately. Ephesians 4:26-27 “‘Be angry, and do not sin,”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil.

Thank you for avenging suffering and righting every wrong. You will fully vindicate when the time of judgement comes. I accept that You are the administrator of justice and willingly leave all retribution in Your hands. Psalm 7:10-11My defense is of God, who saves the upright in heart. God is a just judge, and God is angry with the wicked every day.

In the quest to subdue personal anger, I ask You to direct me to never become apathetic to areas in which I can miss the mark. Since Satan tries to use many different ways to instigate anger, give me the wisdom and the power to do what is expressed in Colossians 3:8-9. “But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds.

Thank you for all Your counsel, in the eternal, precious Name of Jesus, Amen.

A Prayer Based on Psalm 145 for When Burdens Seem More Than I Can Carry

Heavenly Father, I come to You through the Name of Your Son Jesus to bring You thanks and praise for Your never-ending love for me. Thank you that there are many places in Your Word, the Bible, that tell me You will never leave or forsake me during the times when my burdens seem more than I can carry. In fact, You tell me that You are always near and that I should call upon You. Psalm 145:18The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth.

Remind me often in times of trouble of Jesus’ statement in Mathew 11:28-29. “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” I appreciate that You promise never to allow more than I can bear. 1 Corinthians 10:13bBut God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able.

When life’s burdens seem to overwhelm me, give me the wisdom and strength to put my mind on the points David made in Psalm 145. Some of which are: Your greatness and power is beyond our comprehension. Verse 3: “Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable.” You are gracious, compassionate, patient and merciful. Verses 8-9The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion, slow to anger and great in mercy. The LORD is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works.” As I work through my burdens, direct me to gain strength by reading over and over Psalm 145.

Thank you for Your love. Amen.

Worship of God

Heavenly Father, I come in Jesus’ Name to praise and worship You as expressed in Jude 1:24-25. “Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to God our Savior, who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever.

The Greatest Joy’

Lord, in Jesus’ Name, as a believer in Jesus Christ, I thank You for the joy of Romans 5:1-2. “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Angelic Protection

Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name, I thank You that as a believer, You direct Your angels to protect me. Psalm 91:10-11No evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; for He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.

Glorifying God

Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name I ask because of 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 that You direct me to fulfill verse 20. “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

God the Protector

Gracious Lord, I come in Jesus’ Name to thank You for being for me what is expressed in Psalms 18:2. “The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

God’s Unlimited Knowledge and Abilities

Lord, I come in Jesus’ Name to thank You that as a believer in Jesus Christ, I am only a prayer away from Your assistance. Jeremiah 33:3Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.
