Perfect Heavenly Father, I come to You through the Name of Your Son Jesus Christ to express my gratitude for the father or father-figures You have provided in my life. If he is deceased, thank you for my memory of him. Thank you for the wisdom I have gleaned from my father, and how he has set an example for me in following You. If my father is not a believer, please use me or other believers in his life to bring him to You.

Just as You have designed mothers to reflect Your character to their children, You have designed fathers to do the same. Psalm 103:13 (ESV) As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.” Thank you that even the discipline from my father is a result of his love for me. Proverbs 3:11My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor detest His correction; for whom the Lord loves He corrects, just as a father the son in whom he delights.” If this is not the motivation behind a father’s discipline, I ask that You would transform him to be more like You in this area.

Thank you for these specific attributes of my father: [insert your father’s attributes here]. Direct me to be more intentional about expressing my appreciation to him. If I have a difficult relationship with my father, I ask that Your Spirit would guide us to reconciliation, and if needed, that You would enable me to practice genuine forgiveness towards him.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Prayer About the Apostle Paul’s Guidelines for Satisfaction With What We Have (Based on 1 Timothy 6:6-11)

Author: Elton Streyle, Contributor: Noah, Photography and Editing: Ali

Giving Heavenly Father, I come to You with joy and thanksgiving through the Name of Jesus Christ my Savior. In addition to the many spiritual blessings You have given to me, I very much enjoy the freedoms I have, ranging from the freedom to choose clothing and food for my body, and the breath in my lungs that enables me to do verse 8: “And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.” All that I have comes from Your hand and Your bountiful mercy and grace.

I ask for forgiveness for the times I fall into the trap of envy and jealousy over what I don’t have that others do, rather than finding satisfaction in what You have given me. When I look at what others have received, I can quickly become blind to my own blessings. Thank you for the Apostle Paul’s admonishment and teaching on this issue. Verses 6-7: “Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.”

Direct me to have the mindset of contentment with what You have provided for me. Keep me from an evil desire of wealth and riches. Teach me to give generously from what I have and never desire more than what You have seen appropriate to give me. I ask that You set my mind on a course to pursue what is expressed in verse 11. “But you, O man of God, flee these things [unrighteousness] and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness.” Thank you for the promises You provide for Your children. Amen.

2022 Prayer for Graduates

Author: Ali, Contributors: Elton Streyle and Noah, Photography and Editing: Ali

Heavenly Father, I come in Jesus’ Name to thank You for enabling [name all graduates you know] to have the strength and discipline to make it to this milestone. I appreciate the knowledge You have given and allowed them to retain. Please direct the graduates I know to use what they have learned over these last years of school to represent You more effectively. 2 Corinthians 5:20a Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ.

Remind them that apart from You, they can do nothing. John 15:5c, “For without Me you can do nothing.” Whether they graduate this year or have graduated in the past, all of their accomplishments are ultimately credited to You. Direct the graduates I know not to get so wrapped up in achievement that they forget their true purpose in life; to become more like Christ, bring glory to You, and share the Gospel with others. 1 Corinthians 9:24-25 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain in. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.

I ask that You direct all the graduates to grow closer to You during this time of transition. Have Your Holy Spirit empower them to live out Joshua 1:9b Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Give them the ability to trust You no matter what their future brings. I believe that Your plans for them are good, and I desire that they would believe that as well.

Thank you for all of the work You have done in these graduates’ lives so far. Direct them to look expectantly for the work You will continue to do in their lives. Philippians 1:6b He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

2022 Memorial Day Prayer Honoring Those Who Gave Their Lives for Others

Photo taken in Washington, D.C.

Author: Elton Streyle, Contributor: Noah, Photography and Editing: Ali

Heavenly Father, I come to You in the Name of Your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to thank You for directing and giving courage to those men and women in the military, as well as other organizations, who have given their lives for the freedom of our country. It is very patriotic to give your life for someone else’s benefit. Proverbs 10:7aThe memory of the righteous is blessed.

Forgive us as a nation for the disrespect that is shown, by some, to those who are wounded physically and mentally after defending and protecting us. Make us aware that it is unacceptable for our nation to have homeless veterans forced to live on the streets as a result of the physical and mental health issues they suffer because of their service. Many veterans are distraught, and even committing suicide.

I ask that You work in the hearts and minds of our government and military leaders to do all that is possible to help our veterans. Encourage us as believers in Jesus Christ to do what we can to share the Gospel with them. That is their only real hope of recovery. Direct them to understand that You gave Your only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to come and die for our sins so that all who choose a personal relationship with You by accepting Jesus Christ as Savior can ultimately reside in heaven and can now experience John 14:27. “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

I also ask that You give healing, comfort, and peace to the caregivers of those who have been injured from the devastations of war, terrorism, and crime. Give the young children in these situations guidance, protection, and draw them to Yourself. Thank you for inviting all of us to do like the Psalmist David did by crying out to You. Psalm 120:1In my distress I cried to the LORD, and He heard me.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Prayer About Developing a Spiritual Mindset

Photo taken in Nebraska.

Author: Elton Streyle, Contributor: Noah, Photography and Editing: Ali

All wise Heavenly Father, I come in Jesus’ Name to thank You for the wisdom You express in Your Word (the Bible) as to how I can be spiritually minded instead of carnally minded. Thank you for giving Your only begotten Son to die on the cross to make new life possible for me. It is a blessing that You desire for me to be spiritually minded and to have a life filled with Your peace. Romans 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Thank you for making it clear in Your Word that not only do You not want me to go along with the outward customs and behaviors of the evils of this world, but You also do not want me to engage in negative attitudes like pride, selfishness, arrogance, etc. Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Direct me to let the power of Your Word redirect my thinking so that I can see everything with a clear mind and from a biblical perspective. Show me how not to be influenced by the evil cultural viewpoints of the society that I live in. Since what I put in my mind determines what comes out in my words and actions, direct me to be very sensitive to the kind of materials that I read in books and on social media, what I listen to, and what I watch in movies and on television. Encourage me to read Your Word so that it becomes the main thing filling my mind.

Thank you for Paul’s admonishment in Philippians 4:8 about how I can get my mind focused on what is good and pure. “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy – meditate on these things.

I surrender my mind to You to be transformed, renewed, and directed by the Holy Spirit dwelling within me. Amen.

2022 Mother’s Day Prayer

Photo taken in Florida.

Author: Ali, Contributor: Elton Streyle and Noah, Photography and Editing: Ali

Loving Heavenly Father, I come to You in Jesus’ Name to thank You for my mother. If she is deceased, thank you for the memory of her. If she is or was a Godly woman, I express my gratitude to You for the way You directed her to guide me closer to You. If she is or was not a believer, I ask that Your Spirit allow me to see how You are still using her to develop my relationship with You.

I praise You for the way You have designed mothers to reflect Your love to their children. Isaiah 66:13a-bAs one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you.” Thank you for the following ways my mother has been a conduit for Your love in my life: [insert you own experiences here].

For all of the mothers and mother-figures in my life, I ask that You empower them to cultivate devoted Christ-followers in the next generation, like Timothy’s mother and grandmother did. 2 Timothy 1:4c-5 That I may be filled with joy, when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also.

Lord, thank you that whether I have a strong or struggling relationship with my mother, Your love for me is so much greater than hers could ever be. Isaiah 49:15 Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you.” I ask that You encourage and draw all mothers that I am acquainted with, young and old, into a close relationship with You.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Intercessory Prayer for Children, Grandchildren, Loved Ones, and Friends (Based on Colossians1:9-14)

Heavenly Father, I come in Jesus’ Name to thank You for the example of Paul’s intercessory prayer in Colossians 1:9-14. This is a good prayer for me to use when praying for my children, grandchildren, loved ones, and friends. Thank you for my loved ones, because they are a real joy and blessing to me. I ask You to direct them not only to learn more about You, but to apply and live according to the insight You want to give them. Give them spiritual understanding about Your will for their life. Verse 9:For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.” May they comprehend that being able to fully understand God’s will and sense of direction is the most important undertaking for them.

I ask that You direct them to desire a quality of life that would be pleasing to You, and that they understand that they are an extension of Jesus’ life when He was here on earth. Verse 10a: That you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work.” Teach them to joyfully live according to Your spiritual power and not try to do things in their own power. Verse 11: Strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy.” Encourage them to daily practice verse 12:Giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.

Show any of them who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that this decision has to be made first in order for any of this prayer to work for them. Amen.

Urgent Prayer for the Aid Workers in the Ukraine and Russia War

All powerful Heavenly Father, I come in the Name of Your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to thank You for the promise in 1 John 4:4b. “He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” It is very difficult to know just how to pray about this horrific war going on. I ask the Holy Spirit to take this prayer and present it to You in the correct form. Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Please put Your hand of protection upon all of the hundreds of humanitarian workers who are in danger as they aid thousands of refugees. Give the many who are sharing the Gospel the courage to continue doing that, as well as needed protection. Direct all the believers in Jesus Christ to gain strength and comfort from Isaiah 41:10 and Psalm 46:1. “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

I ask this same prayer for the thousands of Christians in Russia who are against the actions of this war and are concerned about civil war breaking out there. Many are having to hide from their own government amidst fear of what might happen to them. It is my desire for You to take full control of the government leaders in both countries and direct them to bring an end to the war. Thank you for inviting all of us to come to You for help in times of trouble. Amen.

2022 Easter Prayer: The Power of the Resurrection

Photo taken in Nebraska.

Author: Elton Streyle, Contributor: Noah, Photography and Editing: Ali

All powerful Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name, I thank You for Easter, one of the most miraculous and powerful events in the world, as recorded in Mathew 28:5-7. “But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead.”

Thank you that when I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior, You considered my sins to have died with Him, and I am no longer condemned. My salvation experience allowed me to become one with Him and have access to all that He is and can provide. I praise You for what is expressed in Galatians 2:20, that not only did I die to self through Christ, but that I was also raised with Him to now be able to live a Christian life. “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” It is an awesome gift You have given me through the Holy Spirit to now have the same resurrection power that raised Jesus from the dead dwelling within me as I live my daily life. Direct me to be developing this relationship with You by reading Your Word and spending quiet time communicating with You in prayer.

Revelation 5:12b “‘Worthy is the lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom, and strength and honor and glory and blessing!'” Amen.

P.S. Since Good Friday, Easter, and the resurrection are all about Jesus, if these events are not personal and real to you, we encourage you to go to the Salvation Tab on our blog and follow the steps to become a child of God through salvation.
